Stop complaining and start enjoying life!

One reason we don’t enjoy life is that we are always complaining. Complaining only gives us more things to complain about, and life can never be enjoyed if we forget to be happy while complaining too much.

We are always complaining no matter the situation:

  • We complain because it’s winter and it’s too cold, and we complain because it’s summer and it’s too hot.
  • We complain if we don’t have a job because we need more money, and we complain if we have a job because the pay is too low, because we don’t like what we are doing, or because we have to work many hours, or because we don’t like our boss.
  • We complain if we don’t have money, and we complain if we don’t have money because it’s not enough.
  • We complain if we can’t find a partner and we complain if we have a partner because we want to live alone.

I could just go on and on with the infinite list of things that humans complain about all the time, but I will stop here so we can reflect on our behavior. It seems that there will always be something to complain about, so we have two options:

  1. To focus on the positive side of everything and be grateful for every little thing we have.
  2. To focus on the negative side of everything, complaining about everything we don’t have.

If you choose the first option, you will always be happy and enjoy life no matter what happens. Of course, there will be times when you will complain and feel frustrated, but it won’t last because you will use the most wonderful tool that you have: gratitude. Gratitude is a tool that can change your life experience in a second and express to the world that you are happy with every aspect of your life, even if it is not perfect.

If you choose the second option, you will always feel frustrated and miserable no matter what happens because complaining gives us a distorted reality where everything seems to be against us when, in fact, it is us that we are against ourselves. Complaining becomes a habit, a very harmful habit that only leads us to frustration and depression. Complaining only makes you focus on the negative side of everything, making you unable to enjoy life.

“When you complain, you make yourself a victim. Leave the situation, change the situation, or accept it. All else is madness.” – Eckhart Tolle

If we complain, we are not grateful, and if we are not grateful for what we already have, how are we going to have more? The truth is that the act of complaining or being grateful is like two powerful magnets; whichever you choose is what you will experience in your life day after day.

To enjoy life, we should be grateful for everything in our life, and with this, I don’t mean that you should settle with the life you have, accepting everything bad that happens to you; what I mean is that we should always go after the things we deserve, but we must be grateful and happy now because we have everything humans need to survive and be satisfied, everything else is secondary. If we cannot see the blessings we have now and be happy, we will not be satisfied with more afterward.

“Be grateful for what you have and stop complaining – it bores everybody else, does you no good, and doesn’t solve any problems.” – Zig Ziglar

If you want to enjoy your life, stop complaining. Free yourself from that harmful habit that does you no good. Complaining has never changed anything in a person’s life, but instead, it gave that person more reasons to complain and be frustrated. The day that you realize how many things you have, especially the small and essential things, things that some people are struggling to get, those basic things that we need for our existence, you will realize how blessed you are, and you will never complain again in your life.
