It is Time to Build your Own Dreams!

A new year has begun. A new opportunity is awaiting you. The past is gone, and the present is all we have. In this given moment we have the chance to begin again, and the opportunity to create something new, or to dream a new dream, or to do something we have never done, and we have the big opportunity to create the life we have always imagined. In this new year, are you going to begin to create your dream or continue building it? or are you going to lose another opportunity to make your dreams come true? Now is the right time to start building your dreams and create the life you have always imagined!

The celebrations are over. The New year’s eve has past. We have celebrated with our family and friends, and we welcomed this new year with hope and enthusiasm. We started the new year full of feelings and emotions, full of hope and optimism, full of new dreams, goals and desires. The first couple of weeks we feel motivated, we are full of enthusiasm, and something about this new year makes us believe that this will be the year that we will make all the things we have always wanted to do.

We start living the first month of this new year with happiness and passion, hopeful and full of faith. But as time goes by, all those beautiful emotions we had on New Year’s eve, all hopes, dreams, desires, all enthusiasm and optimism start to fade away. We begin to immerse ourselves in the darkness of our daily routines and day after day our dreams begin to go back to the drawer of oblivion. An a couple of months later, all those wonderful feelings we once had are replaced with stress, despair, tiredness, and frustration.

“What this power is I cannot say; all I know is that it exists and it becomes available only when a man is in that state of mind in which he knows exactly what he wants and is fully determined not to quit until he finds it.” – Alexander Graham Bell

Then, the year ends and now we do begin to dream again, we believe that the new year will bring us all the things we have always wanted, and once again, all those emotions we once had, begin to appear once again in our hearts putting us in the most wonderful of the states. But I wonder, is this kind of life that looks like if we were living on a roller coaster the meaning of life, the purpose of our existence? Is that our destiny? Once again, as an unstoppable dreamer that I am, I have to say no. Life is something we create, with our thoughts, and actions and with the attitude we adopt day by day.

Therefore, we should not wait any longer to start building our dreams. Life goes fast and if we are not careful we will end up building someone else’s dreams and we will call that “our job” protecting it more than our own dreams. The truth is that this system was created in a way that it makes it almost impossible to live without it. It made us so dependent, that we normally tend to deny all our own dreams because we have the need to serve this system in order to survive. The good news are that we can find the way to depend less from it and be more free, and the way to do it is by finding the time to build our own dreams.

“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.” – Colin Powell

A day has 24 hours, a week has 168 hours, and a month has around 730 hours, and that means we have always time to do at least one thing per day that will push as closer to our dreams. Therefore, we should start by discovering our dreams and goals and set up all the steps we need to do along the year to make them a reality. How do we increase the chances to make that happen? By doing more of what will push us closer to them and doing less of the things that don’t serve us. For example, watching less television, spending less time doing nothing, spending less money on things that we don’t need, and so on. Remember that all those people who have created the life they have imagined, have had the same amount of time than you. It is all a matter of priorities. No matter how busy you are, or how much work do you have, use any spare time to build you dreams.

Do little, do much, but never stop doing. Use the time that God has given you in your favor and not against. The key is to start now, wherever you are, with whatever you have. Start building your own dreams before you end spending all your life building other people dreams. Go out and create the life you dream!
