Should we go back to normal?

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, our normal lives have changed and our reality has ceased to be what it was, but in the midst of this crisis, the humanity has been provided with something very special: More time. In our hectic lives filled by long working hours, studies, tasks, social gatherings and responsibilities time is a luxury. Now, most of us have been forced to stay home due to the COVID-19 outbreak that has severely affected humans around the world, but this situation has given us time, perhaps not time to travel, to go to festivals, events, concerts, shopping malls, parks or time to gather with friends and family but we have got time to think, meditate and reflect, and the question is, should we really go back to “normal” after the pandemic?

"normal"

It was almost the end of the high season here in the north of Norway. Many travelers from around the world come during winter to visit and discover this magical winter wonderland. For me, working in the tourism area, having 10 hours shifts, time was definitely a luxury. All of a sudden, from one day to another, it was over. Not because the season was over but because our lives had a radical change due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The borders were closed and a 14 days quarantine was established for those visiting the country. That meant the abrupt temporary closing of all tourism offices in the city and around the world. Just like that, I went from having almost no time to have all the time in the world.

It is not uncommon to feel disoriented when your life changes abruptly and one immediately and desperately rush to go back to normal, that means, back to what we know, what gives us that sense of security, our comfort zone. However, I decided to embrace this opportunity. I finally had time, something I was desperately looking for. I had time to relax, to have a proper breakfast, to enjoy the beautiful view from my window, to exercise, to make all kind of homemade meals, watch a good movie, play board games, read, chill in the sofa for hours with my cat on my lap, have a nice and long talk with the people around me at my house or via the internet, but above all, I had time to think, to wonder, to contemplate, to consider, to reflect.

“Crises and deadlocks when they occur have at least this advantage, that they force us to think.” – Jawaharlal Nehru

One day I was wondering what will happen to the world after the pandemic is over, the question resounding in my head was: How do we go back to normal after the Coronavirus? All the possible scenarios in my head sounded complicated, unrealistic or completely crazy. But then I started considering the fact that maybe going back to “normal” is not the best idea. Perhaps, humanity can use this crisis as a benefit, as a way to change everything for the better. Perhaps, we can have good use of the time that was given to us to reconsider what normal really is and take this time to change the way we think, we behave and we act in our daily lives.

It is in the time of crisis when our lives are shaped, and we can be active participants in the shaping of our new lives by giving our best to shape it in the way we want it to be. The truth is that while there are some circumstances that cannot be controlled we can always do something to improve our current circumstances and our future. Therefore, it is important to not miss the opportunity we have to change those things that are not so “normal” and to learn the lessons behind this crisis. We have now the chance to improve our life and the life of others.

“In every crisis, doubt or confusion, take the higher path – the path of compassion, courage, understanding and love.” – Amit Ray

We have the time to decide if we really want to go back to our normal lives or what we considered normal, we can decide now to change something about our life, to improve ourselves, to change bad habits and behaviors, for example, this crisis has taught us that in order to succeed and to guarantee our existence we need to take care of each other regardless our nationality, social status, genre, and age. It is now more than ever that we need to take care of ourselves and others in order to avoid more unnecessary deaths, more suffering and put an end to this crisis. This invisible enemy called COVID-19 has taught us that in the end, if we are not together as one no matter where we come from, we will cease to exist. This virus has taught us that kindness, respect, compassion, and love between humans was, is and will always be the key to our success. Separated we are weak, insignificant, vulnerable, but united we are strong and powerful.

Let’s use this time to think about what are the things worth returning to such as being around your family and friends, traveling around the world, going to your favorite festival, to the movies or train and enjoy your favorite sport, enjoying nature and life with freedom and let’s also think about those things we might want to change such as being more compassionate and kind with others and the planet, to take care of our health and the health of others, to appreciate more the little things being more grateful with everything we have, to value our time on earth knowing that one day we are here and the other we might not, to understand how important it is to spend time at home with our family, kids, pets, having time to cook, to play, to love each other rather than always rushing after things that do not really matter.

“The World is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.” – Thomas Paine

The truth is that most of what we call “normal” is not so normal at all and it is indeed destroying ourselves, all other beings in the world and the planet more than the Coronavirus. Therefore, it is time now to reconsider our actions. Our selfishness, jealousy, negativity, our greed, criticism, racism our bad habits and consumerism is separating our selves from each other and we are slowly destroying animals and the environment, therefore, what we do now to change what we have accepted as normal will determine our future and the lessons learned during this period can help to our evolution, uniting us as humans and being prepared for any other crisis.

Let’s use this extra time to our benefit by thinking and focusing on which parts of your normal life you want to return, which parts are worth returning to and how do you want the “new normal” to look like. Life as we knew changed and will never be the same, let’s create together a brand new destiny!

Stepping Into The Unknown

When you decide to step into the unknown, life rewards you with a whole new world of opportunities. It is there where miracles happen, and one day, when you less expect it, like magic, almost instantly, life revolutionize your whole reality, and the impossible becomes possible, what seemed only a fantasy becomes real, you can suddenly touch that what it seemed unreachable, your heartbeat increases, the adrenaline runs through your veins, you feel what you have never felt before, you give a deep breath, and then in that precise moment your soul awakens, you become conscious. You have stepped into the unknown, now the adventure begins.

"Relinquish your attachment to the known, step into the unknown, and you will step into the field of all possibilities." - Deepak Chopra

You realize that now you are truly alive, and you understand the meaning of being alive and that feeling connects you with your soul, with your true self and everything else around you. You feel reborn, your soul expands, a strong energy travels all over your body flooding it with happiness, and that strong and deep energy is then released into the world, out to the universe, a new star is born, a whole new world is now in front of you, your awake, you are alive and that is all that matters.

The unknown holds within the greatest treasures, because it is there, in that particular place where everything is possible, there are no boundaries, it is the place where magic happens but in order to be able to experience the feeling of being in such place one has to be willing to cross the barrier, to leave behind what is known, what is comfortable and be ready to expose yourself to a whole new reality and in order to do this we have to be willing to face our fears, to be ready to take risks, and to go for it, no buts, no maybes, no halfway, all in, deeply, completely, with your whole self.

“You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.” – Alan Alda

That is what I experienced when I decided to turn my whole life around by stepping into the unknown. It takes months to decide and one minute to make it happen, one minute to change your whole life, and then miracles happen. In that moment of decision, of action, life enlightened me, it showed me a world of new opportunities and slowly it whispered: “Go my dear soul, I set you free, go get what makes your soul on fire, the world is yours, discover it, experience it, come back to where you belong, take what you deserve, and be happy.”

My 30s arrived with doubts and fears, with an old world falling into pieces, burning, disappearing, the afraid of becoming old, a failing marriage, uncertainty, but they also came with a whole new world ahead of me, calling my name, extending a hand from the sky, like if it was God itself, taking my hand, pulling me up from the hole, saving me, and telling me: “There is a whole new world waiting for you, you have wished, here is the answer to your prayer, the life you deserve awaits you”. The unknown, the wild, the miraculous, the impossible was in front of me, and I decided to take it, I wanted to do that what feared me, I wanted to do the things no one thought I could do, I wanted to start again, to dream a new dream, to shape a new life and create a brand new future, I wanted to experience life on a whole new level and then the magic happened.

“When you walk to the edge of all the light you have and take that first step into the darkness of the unknown, you must believe that one of two things will happen. There will be something solid for you to stand upon or you will be taught to fly.” – Patrick Overton

I was invited to join a 5 days Expedition by the owners of the company I work for as a present for the arrival of the wonderful and scary 30s. The trip consisted in driving your own sled with the company of 6 Alaskan Huskies through the most magical Arctic tundra in all different weather conditions, sleeping in tents, with no modern comfort, rather traveling back in time, to a more primitive kind of lifestyle, the one we lost, the one that connects our soul back to our roots, the one that provides the most wonderful of the feelings, the one that challenges you and makes you realize that the simplest things were, are and will always be the most important thing a human can have.

With no showers or toilets, no electricity, sleeping in tents surrounded by snow, with the weather changing from a completely clear sky to a snowstorm and furious winds in a matter of seconds, driving the sled with unstoppable and energetic Alaskan Huskies from an easy path to an exhausting uphill to narrow and bumpy trails. After hours on the sleds, we arrived at the different places where we stayed for the night, we needed to unpack the sleds, feed the dogs, build the tents, melt snow to have warm water to drink and water to warm up already made food we carried out in boxes on our sleds, to finally taking out the heavy winter boots and expedition jackets and pants, to find shelter inside a sleeping bag on a tent, in the wilderness, our roof was the sky, our floor the snow, our neighbors: the Huskies, and nature in its more pure state. Waking up in the Arctic, preparing breakfast in the tent, putting on the boots and jackets, and getting ready to put everything back on the sleds to continue the journey into the wild.  With our huskies and sled ready we began the journey again, more fascinating landscapes, more emotions, the feeling of being truly alive, an intense sense of freedom, a deep connection with nature and happiness in its purest state.

After 5 intense and magical days, and after driving for hours in the most wonderful conditions surrounded by the most amazing landscapes we reached the pickup point where they were waiting for us. The trip was finished but it was not the end but the beginning of a whole new life. I had tears in my eyes, we said goodbye to each other, and especially we gave our respect to the most magical of the beings, the Alaskan Huskies, the ones that with their enthusiasm, their free spirit, their passion, and strength took us for the most wonderful of the trips.

“If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive.” – Eleonora Duse

I was not the same, I was reborn, I understood that I have put myself into a place far away from my comfort zone and that I have succeeded, and I understood that real life happens when you decide to do what you are afraid of doing, or when you do what you truly love, when you enjoy life to the fullest, when you are not afraid of the unknown but you rather embrace it, and you let it surprise you. You discover your true strength, your true self, your true nature and only then you know that the sky is the limit.

In order to experience an extraordinary life, one must be willing to leave the comfort of ordinary life. Leaving the shore, sailing to the unknown, discovering new worlds, making possible the impossible and living life to the fullest!

Become an Unstoppable Dreamer

I am an unstoppable dreamer. I dream from the smallest dreams to the biggest ones, from the most insignificant to the extraordinary ones. For me, dreams are different adventures along the way in the path of our life, and every single one is a challenge that makes our life much more meaningful. My brain is addicted to goals and dreams, and my soul is an unstoppable seeker of new adventures. Deep inside we are all dreamers, but not all dare to dream, and not all are willing to make them happen. Are you a dreamer and are you willing to make them come true?

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” - Harriet Tubman

As long as you have something to believe in, the emptiness that you may find inside yourself is filled up with the most magical of the feelings: Love, excitement, joy, satisfaction, you name it. Believing in the kind of things that make your soul dance is what transforms an ordinary life to an extraordinary one and having dreams and believe they can come true is what lights the spark hidden inside all of us, is what pushes us to the limit, is what reveals the greatness within us.

One particular thing about this society is that it has taught us that there are two kinds of dreams: the impossible ones and those that can be bought and that by buying them one can obtain what we are all looking for: Happiness. The society in where we live has corrupted, raped, torn apart, messed up dreams, and have used them as a selling machine. It created in us the necessity to have certain things, it shaped our own beliefs and with that sabotaged our dreams, and gave us false dreams and a wrong idea of happiness.

“Dream your own dreams, achieve your own goals. Your journey is your own and unique.” – Roy Bennett

That is why we tend to go after things we do not need with the wrong idea that will make us happy, and the price we end up paying is higher than the price of a certain product or service themselves. Therefore, it is important to remember to dream our own dreams and not make the dreams of others become our dreams, do not fall in the trap of thinking that by doing what you have to do in life, what is established, what you are supposed to do is the only dream we can dream, but rather believe that life is a box full of tiny little dreams and magical experiences waiting to be discovered. Do not be afraid of dreaming, just open your soul to the realm of dreams, fly, imagine, discover, make them happen.

The problem is that we tend to be afraid of dreams, or in fact, we are afraid of failure, we are afraid of being disappointed, so we avoid dreaming big, or anything at all, in order to avoid the painful experience of being rejected and knocked down by reality. But you know what? Reality is an illusion and failure is only real for those who have given up. Absolutely no one can tell you that you cannot dream, no one is the owner of your dreams and the ruler of your imagination, you have the power to dream infinite dreams, so go ahead, dream big, dream always!

“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. “ – Anatole France

One thing important to remember is that perhaps not all dreams will come true, but that is what makes them so special, what meaning would dreams have if all of them were possible to come true? There would be no excitement, no passion, no joy, and life would have not been the same without dreamers and dreams, and would have been merely a tedious and dreadful experience. Therefore, do not be afraid to be a dreamer, do not be afraid to dream, just dream, make them happen, dream again, and above all enjoy life with what you have, where you are, do not need anything to be happy, just be, and then enjoy the path to your dreams, and work hard to make them happen.

I am a believer, I am a dreamer, I am happy here and now. I live the life of my dreams, I am free. You can be a dreamer too, you can dream and live the life of your dreams!

Escaping Reality

As fugitives, we go throughout our lives escaping from our reality, running and hiding from its claws, we seek redemption from this evil reality wandering around alternate realities in order to enter in the sweet realm of dreams where everything is possible. The question is: Are we condemned to live our whole life escaping from reality to encounter short periods of bliss in our dreams or is it possible that we can make dreams become our daily reality?

"There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality: and then there are some who turn one into the other." - Douglas Hugh Everett

There is no wonder why most humans constantly seek through different ways to escape reality to enter the realm of dreams. Real life can be oppressing, limiting, boring and destructive, therefore we use different methods to escape from the tedious routines from our daily reality to release ourselves and travel to the place where dreams dwell, that wonderful place where everything is possible.

Oh, how beautiful and magical is that place where we travel with our imagination where anything can happen! In that place, there is no sorrow, no pain, no fear, no judgment, no limitations. There is pure bliss, a complete state of ecstasy that makes us touch the sky with our own hands. We can be whoever we want and do whatever we want, the options are endless, and the perk of having no boundaries is that makes our mind fly freely with our imagination.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Our reality and that place where dreams are possible, seem to be so distant that makes us feel that there is no way that they could one day meet along the path of our lives and become one. The problem is that we seek to be in the clouds by using earthly things as our way to escape not knowing that in order to reach the sky, we have to first release ourselves from the heavy weight of earthly objects to be able to fly among the stars.

What I mean is, that there is no way we can buy dreams, we might think that money, material possessions, power, fame, alcohol, drugs or whatever humans use to run away from reality can make our dreams come true and make us happy, but even though that can work for a short period of time, dreams can only become true if we create them, first with our imagination and second by making them happen, with ideas, plans, hard work, commitment, perseverance, and faith.

“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney

Why running away from reality when we can create the reality we want to experience? One that can look like our dreams, one that can reflect our desires and one that can bring us the feelings we would like to experience. The first step is by acceptance, we need to stop running away so we can face our reality, once we accept and understand what is around us, we can separate the things we cannot change and those we can, and so focus on all those aspects of our lives that we can change and improve in order to make our dreams become our reality.

Once we understand that we have the potential to create the reality we do want to experience, we automatically change the way we see our reality, and it ceases to be the oppressing cage we thought it was, becoming the realm of dreams where everything is possible, becoming a place of opportunities. Once you accept the current circumstances and change the way you see your reality, then you have to become the person you want to become without being afraid of judgment, when you are no longer afraid of the opinions and criticism of others, you are free to be here and now whatever you wish to become, after that, success is inevitable.

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” – Arthur Ashe

Change your thoughts, and you will change your whole life. Dreams and fairy tales are possible only if you believe they are and if you do what you have to do in order to make them happen. Even if some things do not go as planned and adversity knocks our doors, we are the ones that say: “This is not how my story will end, this is how it begins, and here I will start again and continue moving forward!” Can’t you see it? We have been given that power, the power to face all adversity, the power to make this world a better place for all, a place where dreams happen, a place where we can all live happy and fulfilling lives.

As John Lennon once said: “You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.” I consider myself an unstoppable dreamer and a tireless advocate of making dreams become a reality. Life is not something we need to run away from, but an opportunity to embrace, an opportunity to make dreams part of our reality!

We Change the World with One Small Action at a Time

Every revolution begins with a small step. Every small action or thought carries the seed of our own success. It is by one small action, by one small thought what can put the world upside down, it is the small details what creates a huge difference and impact on the way human beings live and experience life. One small change can push us forward in the right direction, and the effect will expand and continue without stopping, creating many ripples. Every small action combined will create an impact of massive proportions. Will you accept the challenge?

"Great things are done by a series of small things brought together." - Vincent Van Gogh

One of the main reasons why we tend to fail on the road to success is that we become overwhelmed by how difficult it is to achieve what one desires. The goal normally seems unreachable, rough, distant, or impossible, and because of that, we tend to give up before we even start. Once I wrote that the smalls steps are the ones that push us closer to our dreams and goals making the impossible possible, the unreachable reachable, because the truth is that it is the small actions, carried out day and night, the small thoughts, the small details on every aspect of our lives what creates a revolution, what gives us the power to recreate ourselves anew and gives us the control to create the destiny we wish to obtain.

The problem is that small does not mean easy, and that is what normally tends to stop us from doing that little thing that can change our lives and the lives of others around us. It is important to know that it won’t be easy, nothing that can help us change our life, nothing that can create the life we want to experience and nothing that can give us the reality we wish to experience is going to be easy, therefore, we have to be willing to commit ourselves fully on this project, and accept the fact that the road will be hard and painful, but the result will be worth it.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead

What is the main obstacle that can stop us from doing that small change that can change our life and the lives of others? Fear. Fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of the unknown. We are afraid of being rejected by those who think different, we are afraid of being humiliated, we are afraid of not fitting in, we are afraid of failing in the road to our goals and dreams, and we are afraid of not being able to reach the utmost goal what can give us utter disappointment, we are afraid of what will come next, of what is waiting on the other side once we have decided to walk into the unknown.

Here you can see that the first limitation we find is our own minds dominated by the power of our fears. It is fear the main cause of failure and the one capable to limit the potential we have to create the life we wish to experience and the change we want to create in the world. Knowing this, it is important to not let fear to control our lives, and we do that not by running away, but by facing them and we do so by one small change in our thoughts. Change your thoughts, begin with a small action, face your fears and change the world.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” – Mother Teresa

I sometimes find people trying to convince me that small changes are worthless and that the world will never be changed, no matter how hard I try. Looking it from their side, you can see that the phrase “change the world” seems pretty big, and you can see that a small action is far from creating the utmost goal of changing the world, and that is easier to do nothing than to face what seems to be a complete failure.

However, if you look it from the perspective of those who believe they can make a difference, you understand that perhaps the utmost goal will not be achieved by one person and on a specific time, and maybe not even long after we have left this world, but you do not let that to limit you because you know that it is the small actions of every human repeated every day and when they are put together makes the impossible possible.

“While it may seem small, the ripple effects of small things is extraordinary.” – Matt Bevin

Everything created by humans was once started by one small thought and action, one small change. Every building was once a drawing on a paper, every small action put together by many different people created the drawing into a reality. The key is to believe that it can be done, and with commitment, perseverance and by one good example we can change the world. You can be today the kind of person that decides to do nothing to change their life and the life of others because it is hard or impossible, and waste your potential or you can be that one person that can begin to change the world one action at a time. Remember that it does not matter how little you think you are doing, every small action is never wasted, in fact, it is by our daily positive, kind, and loving actions what make us heroes.

The world needs more people willing to change the world for the better, we all need more people willing to create a better tomorrow for all of us. Start now, join our side, and together let’s change the world!

Beware of Toxic People

We live in a revolutionary era where humans are waking up and seeing the true reality around them. The current conditions of our planet and the different diseases caused by our negligent acts are no longer hidden or unknown. However, there is one overlooked source of pollution highly dangerous for all humans and it is created by toxic people. The venom of these people is extremely poisonous and cautious is advised.

"People inspire you or they drain you - pick them wisely." - Hans F. Hansen #toxic #people

Have you ever heard the phrase: “Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are”? I remember someone told that phrase to me once, it was a few years ago, I do not remember who was it, probably someone wise, and that person meant that our behaviors and habits can be influenced by those who we often surround ourselves with, for better or worst, and it is undeniable that no matter how incorruptible we think we are and how strong we think our character is, someone at some point can create a huge impact and change our behaviors, beliefs, and habits.

On the other hand, people can affect for better or worst the way we feel, for that reason, I can also say “Tell me with who you spend your time with and I will tell you how you feel” and that means that if you are surrounded with people with good energy, positive, happy and kind people you will end up feeling good even if it is only for a moment, on the contrary, if you surround yourself with negative, fully toxic people you will end up feeling bad.

“Toxic people will pollute everything around them. Don’t hesitate. Fumigate.” – Mandy Hale

This is the case when someone is sick and still goes out, for example, to work or to school, someone, who might have a weak immune system will end up having the same kind of virus. This is what happens when you are surrounded with toxic people, these people are already infected with anger, sadness, stress, pain, and fear, some of them do not even realize that or do not want to, the virus inside them has gained total control, and is highly contagious. For this reason, there are two options either we maintain distance from these people or we take extreme caution when treating with them especially when we are already not feeling good.

This does not mean that we should not help those who need it but something I learned is that nobody can help those who do not want to help themselves. For that reason, it is important to help each other, it is important to help those who scream for help even if it is in silence, because we can be the cure or relief that a toxic person is needing, but the important thing is to not let their venom get inside of us and it is wise to know when to stay and when to walk away.

“Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground.” Wilfred Peterson

Therefore, it is important to surround ourselves as much as possible with non-toxic people, people who will bring us peace, joy, and happiness, it is also wise to spend as less time as possible with toxic people, it is not always possible to choose the people around us and toxic people are in every corner, from schools to jobs, in our own houses and neighborhoods but we can find a way to become as immune as possible to the venom released by them and become as wise as to know with whom we should spend most of our time with.

People can become a healthy nutrient for our souls and can help us maximize our own potential, at the same time, they can be the poison that will prevent us from reaching our full potential. They can be an important key to our success or the cause of our failure. Choose them wisely.

Here Comes the New Year: Are you Ready for New Challenges?

Another year is about to end, and a new year is about to begin. Over 300 days after the beginning of the 2017 and here we are, safe and sound. We all have been through different challenges and battles, we have faced defeat and tasted victory, we have encountered difficulties, learned lessons and survived adversities, and now is the time to pause our hectic, chaotic, sometimes quiet and absolutely beautiful lives for a moment and take the time to reflect, to be in contact to what surround us, to be in a profound connection with our own minds. The new year, 2018, is around the corner, more challenges and opportunities are ahead of you, the question is, are you committed enough as to be the architect of your own destiny or will you leave everything at the mercy of luck?

Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering, 'It will be happier.' - Alfred Lord Tennyson

Another year has passed, and at least for me and I guess for most people too, it passed at the speed of light, another prove that life does not wait for us, it simply passes, at its own pace, its own speed, regardless if we decide to move at its own rhythm or not move at all. For that reason, as life moves and passes minute after minute carrying us forward through the path of our lives whether we want or not, we must then take advantage of our time and seize every minute of our own lives.

During one year, anything can happen. Life can punch you in the face and put you in your knees from one moment to another, putting you in a state of darkness and despair, but also it can provide you with the most wonderful of the feelings. No matter what happened, life will keep passing, and it is in our own hands the decision to move forward with life seizing every minute of our lives, or to remain still while it passes through our faces. Now is the time to leave behind what is not good for us, what we do not deserve, what makes us miserable and takes out the worst in us, as the new year begins, let’s make the choice to create the life we truly deserve and become the best version of ourselves.

“If you don’t make the time to work on creating the life you want, you’re eventually going to be forced to spend a lot of time dealing with a life you don’t want.” – Kevin Ng

The bad thing about life is that we cannot travel in time and modify our past, we cannot erase our mistakes nor change our past decisions, the past is out of our hands, however, the good thing about life is that always gives us another opportunity to begin again, to born anew from the ashes like a Phoenix and become the person we were meant to be. For this reason, embrace this New Year with happiness, courage, and commitment, for we can be the creators of our own future. Accept the fact that we cannot always control life circumstances, but indeed, we can always control how we react to those circumstances. Choosing them wisely is the key to live a fulfilled, happy and prosperous life.

Embrace this New Year with your open arms and be ready to accept its challenges. May this New Year be a year of action, do not only wish, dream and hope, but go out and make your dreams become a reality, begin this year by deciding what you really want, make a list with everything you want in this New Year, and then make a plan, take it seriously, as your whole life depended on it, because it does, your life, the life you truly deserve, your dreams and desires depend on you for them to become real. You are their commander-in-chief and you have the power within you to make everything become a reality.

“The path to success is to take massive, determined actions.”  – Tony Robbins

Let’s take some time to say goodbye to 2017 and reflect on the good and bad things. Let’s take with us all the lessons and great memories, and with courage let’s embrace 2018 with confidence and commitment, and always remember that greater things are ahead of us, more challenges and opportunities are waiting. The question is: Are you ready to abandon the comfort zone and go for an adventure that could bring you the most rewarding experience? Are you ready to accept the New Year’s challenges? Are you ready to dream more, and do more in order to make them become a reality? Are you ready to create the life that you wish to experience?

Say yes and accept the challenges! And always remember that if you can dream it, you can do it. Go out and make it happen. May the sorrows be gone with the old year and may the new year bring only happiness, welcome 2018!

When There is Teamwork, Success is Inevitable

True success in every aspect of our lives can only be achieved through teamwork. If humans are willing to work together as a team, if they cooperate and work together as one for the benefit of all, they can overcome any obstacle, win any battle and obtain ultimate success. There is nothing more powerful than a group of humans willing to work together as a team, when individuals become part of a group, when humans gather together and work for their own benefit as well as the benefits of others the opportunities for success are endless and ultimate peace can finally be achieved.

"Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved." - Mattie Stepanek

Why is it that ultimate peace is so unreachable? Peace is something we all seek to obtain, peace of mind, peace in our homes, in our jobs, in our communities, peace in our hearts and world peace, but for some reason, we always fail to achieve it. There are many reasons of why this happens, but one them is that we have forgotten to live together as a team. We live in a very individualistic world where everyone is after their own benefits at the expenses of others. Life has become a huge competition and we live our lives as if we were participants of the “Hunger Games”.

While competition in sports, games and other cases can be necessary, exciting and fun, competition in all aspects of our lives can be deadly. When members of a family compete between each other, when colleagues at work compete between each other, when friends compete within each other, when humans of different nationalities, religion and cultures compete within each other, as individuals, for the merely purpose of obtaining one’s own personal satisfaction or benefit, refusing to be part of a group, we choose to put ourselves in the path to darkness, and hatred, fear, resentment, pain and suffering are its consequences.

“The only competition worthy of a wise man is with himself.” – Washington Allston

Therefore, competition is a double-edged sword, while it can be sometimes fun and encourage teamwork, gives adrenaline, and can makes us better person than we were yesterday, if it is used in the wrong way, it can only destroy, create pain, and snatch our peace. The truth is that life is not a competition, no good can be obtained in fighting between each other, and in ceasing to work as a big team, for the benefits of those in our same group, and the benefits of others. Success can be obtained working together without needing to trample on others to achieve it.

What I am trying to express is that is not wrong to look after your own benefit, it is not wrong to go after your own dreams and desires, and fight for what you love and makes you happy, for that reason, if you want to obtain success as an individual compete with the person you were yesterday, no with others, evolve, grow, learn, work hard, be better than you were yesterday, and become the best version of yourself, and life will take care of the rest. However, remember that true success and ultimate peace in our lives and in the whole world can only be achieved through teamwork. No evil can stop a bunch of human beings willing to do good, working as a team.

“A boat doesn’t go forward if each one is rowing their own way.” – Swahili Proverb

If peace seems so unreachable is because we have separated each other, forgetting that we are part of a whole. In the end we are all the same, with particular characteristics, desires, dreams and personalities, but we belong to each other, and together we can make the impossible possible. Let’s gather together and work together as a team in our homes, in our schools, in our jobs and in every aspect of our lives, let’s help each other, let’s live in peace and remember that teamwork is key to ultimate success. No home, no relationship, no company, no country, can be truly successful without team work. Our merely existence depends on teamwork, without it we are nothing. Either we succeed as a team or we fail as individuals.

As individuals we are finite, as a team we are eternal. As individuals we can be strong, unique and fantastic, but as a team we are powerful and unbeatable!

Great Spirits Will Always Encounter Fierce Opposition

We constantly live our lives fighting a battle between who we really and who we are supposed to be. We were taught that in order to be successful we must belong and fit in this society. The truth is, when we deny our true identity, even if we had success and we were accepted by the majority, we will fail, but when we rise and declare who we really are and we face our doubts, fears, criticism and opposition courageously in the name of our highest ideals and values, and dare to be our true self and live our purpose nobody can ever limit us nor stop us and that is one of the keys to success.

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." - Albert Einstein

One of the easiest ways to avoid criticism and opposition and be accepted is to remain in the side of the majority, thus, say what the say, do what they say, and behave as they behave. Refuse to be yourself and the person you think you are, and become the stereotype of perfection imposed by society.  The weirdos, the crazy ones, the unconventional human beings, those who think differently, those who don’t fit in, those who dream big, those who are constantly looking to improve themselves and be better persons are always marginalized and encounter a violent opposition.

However, if you want to make an impact, if you want to become a revolutionary, if you want to change the world, or if you simply want to be yourself and not being the perfect stereotype of person imposed by society, you need to be willing to separate yourself from some people and get ready to face opposition. In order to push the human race forward one must be willing to break the rules and refuse to accept the status quo. Therefore, evolution is the daily sum of revolutionary acts which challenges what is established and accepted by society, expanding humans’ perspectives, horizons and limitations, creating beliefs and ideas capable of changing the world for the better.

“Can you remember who you were, before the world told you who you should be?” – Danielle LaPorte

The question is: Are you willing to step aside from the majority in the name of your values, ideals and express your true self freely? If the answer is yes, are you then ready to face opposition, humiliation and solitude? The journey to become the best version of yourself, your true self and create a better world for everyone is not easy, but in the end, it will be worth it. There will be times where you will encounter yourself walking alone, there will be times where you will face humiliation  and opposition, there will be times where nobody will understand you, the temptation to give up and return to the “acceptance zone” will be strong, when this happens, don’t let your fears, doubts and other people’s opinion take your sight off from your higher values, goals and dreams.

The thing is, in this world it is much easier to belong, to be accepted and recognized as a member of the group of those who has been accepted by society. Nobody wants to be rejected, rejection is a strong feeling, that not many people can cope with. However, if we learn to love ourselves as we are and be confident about the person we truly are, we will walk our path in this life without fear of rejection, because once you accept yourself, you will never ever need the necessity to be accepted by others, and their opinions, thoughts and criticism will never be a limitation to become the person you know you can be, your true self, your best version.

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” – Mark Twain

Whether you are at school, or at the university, or at work, or any other place you might be, never feel ashamed to be who you really are, never fear the bullies. If you are different, if you are shy, if you don’t follow trend, if you are not the smartest, or the prettiest, if you are not the popular, or most funny, if you have big and “impossible” dreams and goals, if your beliefs are different than what is accepted, and most of all, if you know you are being your true self, and with true self I mean you best version of yourself, the person capable of changing those around you and make this world a better place for all, if deep inside yourself you know that what you are doing is the best you can do for you and for others, so be not afraid to affirm and declare the person you really are and go with confidence in the direction of the achievement of your personal growth and evolution, and with your example change the world and open the eyes of those who cannot see that violence, hatred, intolerance and ignorance will never be bring us peace, love nor success!

Discover your true self, love and accept the person you really are regardless if you are accepted by other people or not, never cease to improve yourself, release your true potential, stay true to your values and ideals, do not let your soul and your true self be corrupted by the fear of being rejected, do not feel ashamed for who you really are, and with courage and confidence go out, make your dreams become a reality, make an impact, be the best version of your self and change the world!

Forcing Things will Never Be the Solution

Life is composed of simple and complex conflicts that affect our daily lives to a lesser o greater extent. Every single day of our lives, life challenges us, disturbing our peace with a new conflict, some of them require no more than a simple solution, others require a more advance solution and others require us to develop or discover a solution that is not found in any book.  However, there is one simple rule that can help us deal with our daily circumstances and that rule is: “Forcing things is never the solution”.

"Don't try to force anything. God opens millions of flowers everyday without forcing their buds."

How many times in our lives do we seek to resolve a conflict, repair something or change our current circumstances by forcing things? How many times we applied force on something and the outcome we got was the opposite of what we expected? For instance, many times in my life I have tried to fix something by using force, and I ended up with the broken pieces of what I was actually looking to repair. Several times I broke things, and I ended up with sorrow, disappointment and anger when I applied force in different situations in my life.

The thing is, the first solution that comes to our minds when we seek to solve an issue in our lives that has already resisted our previous attempts to fix it is force. For some reason we have come to believe that when something is not working in the way we wanted to, we must apply force in order to fix it and to satisfy our wishes. Forcing things becomes our solution. However, while applying force on something can sometimes be a solution, it is only a temporal solution and in the future it will go back to its previous state or it will cause an irreparable rupture.

“Beware of trying to accomplish anything by force.” – Angela Merici

Therefore, an important lesson I have learned through my life, the experiences I had and many failed attempts, is that forcing is not a solution, but the cause of the irreparable destruction of something and the everlasting pain caused in our own selves and others. Therefore, the main rule we need to learn in order to deal with our conflicts and current circumstances successfully is knowing that if we need to force something is because we are doing it in the wrong way, hence, if we would like to have a positive outcome, we need to stop using our force. Change the strategies, find a better solution, accept it, or let it go, but forcing something will cause nothing but harm.

You may be thinking: “Oh well, I applied many times my force and it turned out well.” While that might be true, it is also true that the amount of times something turns out well by using force is less than the amount of times that something doesn’t turns out well by using force. This being said, we can be certain that the odds of getting a negative outcome by using force are extremely high. If you are confused and doubtful about that statement, I encourage you to apply force to fix something and see what happens. In the end, the only way to discover if something is true or not is by your own personal experience.

“Never force anything. Give it your best shot, and then let it be. If it’s meant to be, it will be.”

However, life has always found its way to show us throughout our existence that everything that was meant to be, will be without the need to force it. If a relationship, a job, a career, or anything else in our daily lives needs to be forced and oppressed in any way possible, it will sooner or later break, vanish and it will cause disappointment and sorrow. Therefore, in order to get the outcome we expect, we need to find, design or discover the solution that will help us deal with a certain conflict, creating the outcome we desire. On the other hand, we need to understand that sometimes letting go is the only possible and efficient solution, and while it can create also sorrow and despair, we are giving life the chance to reward us with a new beginning.

If you are forcing something and it is not giving you the outcome you were expecting is either because it was not meant to be, or because you are doing it the wrong way. Stop, relax, think and change strategies. Accept what you cannot control, learn to let go, or discover the way to achieve your desired outcome in a more efficient way.

Use more your strength to deal with your life and less your force and oppression on things and people, and you will have found the key to resolve most of the simplest and complex conflicts of your daily life!
