We live in a world where being a copy is much easier than being authentic because we are always being influenced by the society in which we live which is constantly forcing us to stop being who we really are, so we can become a stereotyped model of perfection.
Nowadays being authentic means you have to fight a hard battle where you will always begin losing because your adversary has the power to convince you to become a cheap copy of something else which is a far greater power than the one you have to convince yourself to become who you truly are despite external influences.
It requires a lot of courage and strength to be genuine in a world that is constantly trying to make you a copy of someone else. We are constantly being influenced by external factors that are always trying to manipulate our minds making us feel shame for who we are, what makes us fall into the trap that to be successful in life, we should never try to be ourselves, but a cheap replica of the stereotype of successful woman and man imposed by the society in which we live.
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
We lack authenticity for we have become what others wanted us to become: a replica of someone else. We have been influenced, forced, and manipulated to follow the rules written by the society of “How to be successful being something else except yourself” Our brains have been washed and our minds have been programmed to follow rules. They have given us the keys to be successful, but successful in what? Successful being someone you’re not? Can we succeed in not being our true selves?
Well, I guess the answer will depend on your own definition of success, if for you being successful means to become an exact copy of someone else then go ahead and keep following someone else’s rules, but if instead being successful for you means being true to yourself, being whatever you wanted to be and doing all the things you came here to do, no matter what others will think about it, then you should only follow the rules of your heart, they will tell you exactly what to do, those are the rules that will make you truly successful.
“When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see the real you, or what you have been conditioned to believe is you? The two are so, so different. One is an infinite consciousness capable of being and creating whatever it chooses, the other is an illusion imprisoned by its own perceived and programmed limitations.” – David Icke
The problem is we have tried so much to become the person we should become to be accepted by others, that we have forgotten our own identity, and so we don’t even know who we really are. We act, we think, we speak, we dress, we eat, and we behave as the rest, lacking originality. We are so concerned about fitting in this society that we have decided to become someone else, leaving our true selves aside.
It is not a coincidence that most of the people behave in the same way. We have been programmed like a computer to follow rules. It has been said that to be accepted by others we should act in a certain manner and think specially, and so we are constantly pretending to be what we are not to be accepted because we have the wrong belief that being successful means being what the society tells you to be.
“You were born an original. Don’t die a copy.” – John Mason
Don’t be afraid to be your true self but be afraid of becoming a cheap imitation of another person. You don’t need to become someone else to be amazing, you are already amazing. You don’t need to have thousands of fans telling you how amazing you are, because you only need just one: Yourself. If you accept yourself and love yourself as you are, you will be free to be whoever you want to be regardless if you are accepted by others or not.
To be the best version of yourself, you should be original, following the rules of your own heart. You can only be truly successful being your true self; otherwise, you will be successful being a copy. There is a difference between wanting to do what someone else has done and wanting to become that person, you can share the same goal but that doesn’t mean you have to become that person to achieve it, you can achieve anything you want just being yourself, so stop trying to become someone else, and start being yourself!
Be free, be original, be authentic, be you!
