We Change the World with One Small Action at a Time

Every revolution begins with a small step. Every small action or thought carries the seed of our own success. It is by one small action, by one small thought what can put the world upside down, it is the small details what creates a huge difference and impact on the way human beings live and experience life. One small change can push us forward in the right direction, and the effect will expand and continue without stopping, creating many ripples. Every small action combined will create an impact of massive proportions. Will you accept the challenge?

"Great things are done by a series of small things brought together." - Vincent Van Gogh

One of the main reasons why we tend to fail on the road to success is that we become overwhelmed by how difficult it is to achieve what one desires. The goal normally seems unreachable, rough, distant, or impossible, and because of that, we tend to give up before we even start. Once I wrote that the smalls steps are the ones that push us closer to our dreams and goals making the impossible possible, the unreachable reachable, because the truth is that it is the small actions, carried out day and night, the small thoughts, the small details on every aspect of our lives what creates a revolution, what gives us the power to recreate ourselves anew and gives us the control to create the destiny we wish to obtain.

The problem is that small does not mean easy, and that is what normally tends to stop us from doing that little thing that can change our lives and the lives of others around us. It is important to know that it won’t be easy, nothing that can help us change our life, nothing that can create the life we want to experience and nothing that can give us the reality we wish to experience is going to be easy, therefore, we have to be willing to commit ourselves fully on this project, and accept the fact that the road will be hard and painful, but the result will be worth it.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead

What is the main obstacle that can stop us from doing that small change that can change our life and the lives of others? Fear. Fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of the unknown. We are afraid of being rejected by those who think different, we are afraid of being humiliated, we are afraid of not fitting in, we are afraid of failing in the road to our goals and dreams, and we are afraid of not being able to reach the utmost goal what can give us utter disappointment, we are afraid of what will come next, of what is waiting on the other side once we have decided to walk into the unknown.

Here you can see that the first limitation we find is our own minds dominated by the power of our fears. It is fear the main cause of failure and the one capable to limit the potential we have to create the life we wish to experience and the change we want to create in the world. Knowing this, it is important to not let fear to control our lives, and we do that not by running away, but by facing them and we do so by one small change in our thoughts. Change your thoughts, begin with a small action, face your fears and change the world.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” – Mother Teresa

I sometimes find people trying to convince me that small changes are worthless and that the world will never be changed, no matter how hard I try. Looking it from their side, you can see that the phrase “change the world” seems pretty big, and you can see that a small action is far from creating the utmost goal of changing the world, and that is easier to do nothing than to face what seems to be a complete failure.

However, if you look it from the perspective of those who believe they can make a difference, you understand that perhaps the utmost goal will not be achieved by one person and on a specific time, and maybe not even long after we have left this world, but you do not let that to limit you because you know that it is the small actions of every human repeated every day and when they are put together makes the impossible possible.

“While it may seem small, the ripple effects of small things is extraordinary.” – Matt Bevin

Everything created by humans was once started by one small thought and action, one small change. Every building was once a drawing on a paper, every small action put together by many different people created the drawing into a reality. The key is to believe that it can be done, and with commitment, perseverance and by one good example we can change the world. You can be today the kind of person that decides to do nothing to change their life and the life of others because it is hard or impossible, and waste your potential or you can be that one person that can begin to change the world one action at a time. Remember that it does not matter how little you think you are doing, every small action is never wasted, in fact, it is by our daily positive, kind, and loving actions what make us heroes.

The world needs more people willing to change the world for the better, we all need more people willing to create a better tomorrow for all of us. Start now, join our side, and together let’s change the world!

When There is Teamwork, Success is Inevitable

True success in every aspect of our lives can only be achieved through teamwork. If humans are willing to work together as a team, if they cooperate and work together as one for the benefit of all, they can overcome any obstacle, win any battle and obtain ultimate success. There is nothing more powerful than a group of humans willing to work together as a team, when individuals become part of a group, when humans gather together and work for their own benefit as well as the benefits of others the opportunities for success are endless and ultimate peace can finally be achieved.

"Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved." - Mattie Stepanek

Why is it that ultimate peace is so unreachable? Peace is something we all seek to obtain, peace of mind, peace in our homes, in our jobs, in our communities, peace in our hearts and world peace, but for some reason, we always fail to achieve it. There are many reasons of why this happens, but one them is that we have forgotten to live together as a team. We live in a very individualistic world where everyone is after their own benefits at the expenses of others. Life has become a huge competition and we live our lives as if we were participants of the “Hunger Games”.

While competition in sports, games and other cases can be necessary, exciting and fun, competition in all aspects of our lives can be deadly. When members of a family compete between each other, when colleagues at work compete between each other, when friends compete within each other, when humans of different nationalities, religion and cultures compete within each other, as individuals, for the merely purpose of obtaining one’s own personal satisfaction or benefit, refusing to be part of a group, we choose to put ourselves in the path to darkness, and hatred, fear, resentment, pain and suffering are its consequences.

“The only competition worthy of a wise man is with himself.” – Washington Allston

Therefore, competition is a double-edged sword, while it can be sometimes fun and encourage teamwork, gives adrenaline, and can makes us better person than we were yesterday, if it is used in the wrong way, it can only destroy, create pain, and snatch our peace. The truth is that life is not a competition, no good can be obtained in fighting between each other, and in ceasing to work as a big team, for the benefits of those in our same group, and the benefits of others. Success can be obtained working together without needing to trample on others to achieve it.

What I am trying to express is that is not wrong to look after your own benefit, it is not wrong to go after your own dreams and desires, and fight for what you love and makes you happy, for that reason, if you want to obtain success as an individual compete with the person you were yesterday, no with others, evolve, grow, learn, work hard, be better than you were yesterday, and become the best version of yourself, and life will take care of the rest. However, remember that true success and ultimate peace in our lives and in the whole world can only be achieved through teamwork. No evil can stop a bunch of human beings willing to do good, working as a team.

“A boat doesn’t go forward if each one is rowing their own way.” – Swahili Proverb

If peace seems so unreachable is because we have separated each other, forgetting that we are part of a whole. In the end we are all the same, with particular characteristics, desires, dreams and personalities, but we belong to each other, and together we can make the impossible possible. Let’s gather together and work together as a team in our homes, in our schools, in our jobs and in every aspect of our lives, let’s help each other, let’s live in peace and remember that teamwork is key to ultimate success. No home, no relationship, no company, no country, can be truly successful without team work. Our merely existence depends on teamwork, without it we are nothing. Either we succeed as a team or we fail as individuals.

As individuals we are finite, as a team we are eternal. As individuals we can be strong, unique and fantastic, but as a team we are powerful and unbeatable!

Self-Care vs. Selfishness

We usually confuse self-care with selfishness and the other way around, this is a common mistake we make in our daily life, and not being able to see the difference is what is causing a huge disaster in humanity.

“A man is called selfish not for pursuing his own good, but for neglecting his neighbor's.” – Richard Whately

It is hard for us to see the difference between them because they have the same meaning except for one simple detail, which makes a huge difference. Both self-care and selfishness mean the care of oneself, loving ourselves in the first place. The difference that changes everything is that selfishness is only concerned with one’s own benefits regardless of others, while self-care is concerned with one’s own benefits and the benefits of others, loving ourselves in the first place and meeting our own needs, so we can be ready to benefit others.

The selfish people are only worried in their own interests, because they only look to satisfy their own needs at the expense of others. They never think about others, they don’t care about other’s needs, because most of the time they are thinking only in themselves, so they forget to look after people around them. The selfish people don’t care if they hurt others in the process of getting what they need to meet their needs and desires. They think they are the center of the world, and they want everyone to agree with that.

Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

On the other hand, self-care people are worried about their own interests and the interest of others, and they want to meet their own needs and desires but not at the expense of others. They want to become better persons every day, they love themselves, and they do things to benefit themselves, but that doesn’t mean that they forget about everyone around them. They do follow their dreams and desires, but without trampling over others in order to achieve what they want. Self care people want to meet their own needs, but they try to look for the best way to avoid hurting others in the process of meeting their needs.

So now you can see that there is a difference between self-care and selfishness, and where one helps to construct a better world, the other helps to construct a better world but only for themselves. Probably both will lead to happiness, but only those who are not selfish will find eternal happiness, and those people will definitely help to change other people’s lives, and making other people happy, what will make them even happier, because everything you shall give, you shall receive, multiplied.

“Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live; it is asking others to live as one wishes to live.” – Oscar Wilde

The world desperately needs less selfish people; there is so much despair and sadness because of this selfish humanity. This amazing world with all its beauty is dying thanks to the selfishness of human beings, because we are not only worried about meeting our own needs in order to survive, we are also too worried about meeting unnecessary needs at any cost, that we forgot about taking care of our planet, destroying everything that was given to us.

We are also too worried thinking only in ourselves that we forgot about people around us, we are too worried in getting a better position at our job that we don’t care if we have to destroy everyone around us to get it. We are too worried about getting more money, to buy more and more things for us even when we don’t need them that we forgot about the man whom is sitting in the street asking for a miserable coin to buy something to eat.

We are too worried about our own satisfaction that we don’t care if we cheat our partner, because you think your satisfaction is more important that being loyal to the person who loves you! We are too worried because we didn’t had the guts to follow our dreams, so we force others to do it for us, even when they don’t want to do that. We are too worried about meeting our own needs that we don’t care if we become rapists in order to satisfy that need, we are too worried in ourselves, that we don’t care if we steal, or if we have to kill others in order to meet our needs, goals and desires. And all of this happens because of our selfishness, because we only think in our own benefit.

“Selfish persons are incapable of loving others, but they are not capable of loving themselves either.” – Erich Fromm

So which one are you going to choose?  The key is to find a balance. We must love ourselves first, and follow our heart, and make our dreams a reality and do everything that makes us happy, because that is the only way we can help others and make others happy, but we should never do that in order to meet our own needs and desires at expense of the unhappiness of others. We should put ourselves in the first place as long as it benefits all of us.
