Great Spirits Will Always Encounter Fierce Opposition

We constantly live our lives fighting a battle between who we really and who we are supposed to be. We were taught that in order to be successful we must belong and fit in this society. The truth is, when we deny our true identity, even if we had success and we were accepted by the majority, we will fail, but when we rise and declare who we really are and we face our doubts, fears, criticism and opposition courageously in the name of our highest ideals and values, and dare to be our true self and live our purpose nobody can ever limit us nor stop us and that is one of the keys to success.

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." - Albert Einstein

One of the easiest ways to avoid criticism and opposition and be accepted is to remain in the side of the majority, thus, say what the say, do what they say, and behave as they behave. Refuse to be yourself and the person you think you are, and become the stereotype of perfection imposed by society.  The weirdos, the crazy ones, the unconventional human beings, those who think differently, those who don’t fit in, those who dream big, those who are constantly looking to improve themselves and be better persons are always marginalized and encounter a violent opposition.

However, if you want to make an impact, if you want to become a revolutionary, if you want to change the world, or if you simply want to be yourself and not being the perfect stereotype of person imposed by society, you need to be willing to separate yourself from some people and get ready to face opposition. In order to push the human race forward one must be willing to break the rules and refuse to accept the status quo. Therefore, evolution is the daily sum of revolutionary acts which challenges what is established and accepted by society, expanding humans’ perspectives, horizons and limitations, creating beliefs and ideas capable of changing the world for the better.

“Can you remember who you were, before the world told you who you should be?” – Danielle LaPorte

The question is: Are you willing to step aside from the majority in the name of your values, ideals and express your true self freely? If the answer is yes, are you then ready to face opposition, humiliation and solitude? The journey to become the best version of yourself, your true self and create a better world for everyone is not easy, but in the end, it will be worth it. There will be times where you will encounter yourself walking alone, there will be times where you will face humiliation  and opposition, there will be times where nobody will understand you, the temptation to give up and return to the “acceptance zone” will be strong, when this happens, don’t let your fears, doubts and other people’s opinion take your sight off from your higher values, goals and dreams.

The thing is, in this world it is much easier to belong, to be accepted and recognized as a member of the group of those who has been accepted by society. Nobody wants to be rejected, rejection is a strong feeling, that not many people can cope with. However, if we learn to love ourselves as we are and be confident about the person we truly are, we will walk our path in this life without fear of rejection, because once you accept yourself, you will never ever need the necessity to be accepted by others, and their opinions, thoughts and criticism will never be a limitation to become the person you know you can be, your true self, your best version.

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” – Mark Twain

Whether you are at school, or at the university, or at work, or any other place you might be, never feel ashamed to be who you really are, never fear the bullies. If you are different, if you are shy, if you don’t follow trend, if you are not the smartest, or the prettiest, if you are not the popular, or most funny, if you have big and “impossible” dreams and goals, if your beliefs are different than what is accepted, and most of all, if you know you are being your true self, and with true self I mean you best version of yourself, the person capable of changing those around you and make this world a better place for all, if deep inside yourself you know that what you are doing is the best you can do for you and for others, so be not afraid to affirm and declare the person you really are and go with confidence in the direction of the achievement of your personal growth and evolution, and with your example change the world and open the eyes of those who cannot see that violence, hatred, intolerance and ignorance will never be bring us peace, love nor success!

Discover your true self, love and accept the person you really are regardless if you are accepted by other people or not, never cease to improve yourself, release your true potential, stay true to your values and ideals, do not let your soul and your true self be corrupted by the fear of being rejected, do not feel ashamed for who you really are, and with courage and confidence go out, make your dreams become a reality, make an impact, be the best version of your self and change the world!

Don’t Take Anything Personally

Day after day we deliberately accept in our minds the venom of poisonous people with devastating consequences. Once in our minds, this venom annihilates our self-confidence and destroys our self-esteem and feelings of anger, hatred and resentment flood our minds. Cause: taking things too personally. Cure: living without the influence of other people’s opinions.  Are you taking things personally? Are you letting other people’s opinion and behaviors define your true self?

Don’t take anything personally, nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering. Don Miguel Ruiz

We go through life as we had a target hanging from our necks. We feel as if we were inoffensive deer grazing peacefully in the woods surrounded by heartless hunters waiting for the perfect moment to pull the trigger. Suddenly, that moment comes, the world freezes, the watch stops, and bang! Perfect shot, straight into our heads, we lie motionless, presumed deceased. The world begins to move again, we breathe, we are alive, we survived, but the scars are bleeding, the pain increases, and suddenly the pain becomes anger and the anger commence to rule our lives. Resentment becomes our ally.

The problem is that our constantly need for acceptance and our desperate search for everyone’s approval has become a necessity in order to maintain an acceptable reputation to society, and this reputation, or our own reputation about our own selves is severely affected when we encounter ourselves being the target of someone’s attacks, that is the main reason why we take things so personally, because that person is preventing us from achieving our goal of being accepted by every single human in our society. It damages our ego, diminishes our self-confidence and put ourselves at the edge of collapse.

“What other people think of you is not your business. If you start to make that business your business, you will be offended for the rest of your life.” – Deepak Chopra

Therefore, taking things personally and unhappiness are connected. But, is there such thing as an everlasting happiness? Well, There are many keys and ideas of how can one be happy, but this question continues to be an existential doubt for most of us. However, through the years we have discovered important keys to unhappiness. One of them is taking things personally, when we do this, we expose ourselves, we put ourselves in a place of extreme vulnerability, putting our own happiness in someone else’s hands. When we take things personally, we condemn ourselves to a life of misery and resentment, we sabotage our own capabilities of achieving all our dreams and goals, and we deny ourselves the possibility of having a happy life.

When someone attacks you in any way in the end they never have something personal with you but rather they have something personal with themselves. The only time when you can take things personally is when you have attacked them or hurt them in any way first. For example, let’s imagine the case where you insult someone else’s mother, if the person gives you a punch in the face, you can take it personally, nevertheless, in the end, it always comes down to the fact that someone’s reaction and behavior against others is never something personal with them but with their own selves, no matter if they think they have an excuse for acting that way.

“There is a huge amount of freedom that comes to you when you take nothing personally.” — Miguel Ruiz.

Not taking things personally from the people that surrounds you is not something we can learn overnight, but is rather an every day commitment, but there is nothing more rewarding that gaining that level of freedom and become immune to other people’s opinions, immune to other people’s criticism, immune to other people’s judgements, immune to other people’s aggression. The real truth is that other people’s behaviors and attitudes toward you do not define nor categorize you, not damage your reputation, do not condemn you, but they rather do all of that onto them. Every actions and behaviors, every thoughts and opinions of others are only a reflection of their own souls, they do not indicate who you are, but they indicate who they are. Therefore, do not take things personally, and you will have found the key to your own personal development, you will broaden your limitations and you will declare, loudly and fearless to the world:  “I do not seek to belong, I do not seek to be accepted, nobody defines me nor limits me, I am immune to the poisonous souls that seek to destroy me, I am an utterly and completely free soul.”

Learn to not take things personally, release your soul from the need to get everyone’s approval and become immune to other people’s criticism, opinions and behaviors and you will have discovered one of the keys to success and your personal development.

Is Life a Competition?

Since we were children we are taught to compete. Day after day the habit of competing with others is shaped. When we less expect it that habit is created, and our whole life becomes a competition, a competition where we need to beat others in order to be successful. But is life really a competition? Do we need to compete in order to be successful? It is the act of competing with others what give us true victory? Can the result of a competition really define a human being? Let’s find out together more about competition, its definition, level of importance and impact on human beings.

According to the dictionary, a competition is “a situation in which someone is trying to win something or be more successful than someone else” In other words, we can define competition as being an opportunity to get a special prize that might have a special significance, or the opportunity to defeat others to declare oneself as being more successful or superior than someone else. Therefore, does this mean that we must focus on defeating others to be successful? It is by doing so, that one truly achieves victory? It is true that through competing with others one evolves, becomes superior, and achieves greatness?

Well, that will depend on the way we see it, that is to say, our own perspective, belief and idea of what a competition truly means. Two different beliefs are going to determine the true meaning of competition and the answers to those questions: 1. The belief that life is a competition, where you have to defeat others in every possible aspect of your life. 2. The belief that life is not a competition at all, and if there is one competition that is with the person you were yesterday.

“The only competition worthy of a wise man is with himself.” – Washington Allston

The first belief will define competition as the possibility to beat others to be successful, believing that through defeating others one gets true victory, what makes them more superior, what makes them evolve, and so achieve greatness.  The second belief will define competition as being merely the chance to be better than you were yesterday, believing that one is successful, evolves and achieves greatness by becoming the best version of oneself.

The people who have the first belief will focus on winning others. That will be their maximum goal, beating others will become their main desire, and the defeat of others will be their victory.  Those who have the second belief will focus on being better than they were yesterday, and becoming the best version of themselves will be their ultimate goal, and victory for them will mean being the person they were meant to be without needing to defeat others for being so.

“You are never really playing an opponent. You are playing yourself, your own highest standards, and when you reach your limits, that is real joy.” – Arthur Ashe

As we can see competition is a word that can have many different meanings. The true is that nowadays people have accepted the first belief, because that is what this society taught us. It taught us that we need to compete, and in every competition, we have to win others in order to be successful. And this is not about sports, this is not a simple game, this is about life. Somehow, they transformed life into a competition. We compete not to become the best version of ourselves, but to simply defeat others, what gave us a wrong idea of life.

Every aspect of our life has become a competition. In every place there is an ongoing competition: In workplaces, schools, universities, homes, neighborhoods, bars, parks, and every corner of this world. We compete to see who has the best car, smartphone, house, clothes, shoes, we compete to see who has the best body, who looks better, who is more beautiful, we compete to see who has the best job, the best position, the best salary, we compete to see who has the best grades, or the most important degree, or anything that will put us in a “high status position”,  we compete to see who has the best birthday, wedding, funeral, it doesn’t matter, the fact is that we have to be better than others, that gives a fake sensation of happiness and success, that seems to fill our empty souls.

“Real learning comes about when the competitive spirit has ceased.” – Jiddu Krishnamurti

But, do we ever feel complete? No, not really, and that is why we never stop competing. We desperate need to be better than others to feel successful. What we don’t know is that the only person we need to be better than is the person we were yesterday. Being the person we were meant to be, doing the things we love without needing others approval, without needing to beat others, gives us freedom, and that makes us truly successful, that is how you really win this competition called “Life”, which in fact is not a competition at all, or not against others, but a competition against the person we were yesterday. Winning this game, means defeating the person that we are not, becoming the person that we really are, and that means becoming the best version of ourselves.

If you want to improve yourself, to develop your true potential, if you want to succeed at life, you will have to fight to become the person you are capable of becoming, if you believe in yourself and you think you are good enough to be the person you have imagined, then there is no need to compete with others, because you will realize that you don’t have competition, and if you don’t have competition, against whom are you going to compete with?

Life is not a competition, and if there is one competition, that is against ourselves. We create our own success by exceeding our own standards not by defeating others. So let’s go out and become the best version of ourselves!

The Reflection of a Desperate Soul

The reflection of a desperate soul is a short story about a woman who was lost, but who found her true self. It is a story that reflects what is happening to most of the people in our society. Nowadays most of the people are trying to be someone else, trying to be what other people want them to be, forgetting to be themselves. People just exist but they don’t truly live, that’s why there is so much pain and sadness in people’s hearts. So here goes the story…

"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“The reflection of a desperate soul”

It was 5.45 pm on a Tuesday afternoon; it was another common day for a normal woman. She was counting the minutes to get out of the office, or the cell how she used to call it. Finally, she left her prison’s cell to get into the concrete jungle, and as it was the rush hour, the madness was higher than usual. She took her bike as fast as she could and at full speed she headed home.

The concrete jungle was full of ghosts with empty souls, the view was horrific, but she knew a shortcut. She went back home through the secret paradise, which was a lake full of ducks, swans, birds and other different species perfectly hidden in the middle of the city, or the concrete jungle as she used to call it. She usually stopped every day to admire the view for a couple of minutes before going back home, because somehow she always felt some kind of peace while doing it, and as another normal day, she arrived to the lake, got down the bike and went to admire the view, not knowing that her life was about to change forever.

She was watching the animals when suddenly she saw herself reflected in the lake – Who am I? Why am I here? She wondered – She saw her reflection, but couldn’t recognize herself anymore. She always followed the rules, and always did everything she was supposed to do to please her family, friends, and the entire society. But she could see in her reflection her sad and empty eyes that seemed to scream for help, and she realized that she has never been herself, her inner emptiness reflected in her lifeless pale face and in her sad eyes confirmed it. She had forgotten what it was to be a little girl full of joy, dreams and happiness, she had stopped playing with dolls and puppets, and what was worse, she had become one of them, and the ones who were playing were others.

It was in that moment when she realized how lost she was, she never had time to look into her eyes, and reflect about her own miserable reflection. Her soul was empty and her heart seemed to have no pulse, she was a dead body, a ghost, a puppet, a programmed machine of society, she was everything, except herself. And she asked herself one more time – Who are you? Who have you become? – And then anger seized her. She was furious with herself, she was looking at her own reflection with disgust and repulsion, and in that moment of anger and confusion, while looking at her own pathetic reflection in the lake, she fell straight into the water, feelings of sadness and sorrow pierced her body. She stayed there floating on the water, feeling completely lost. She laid down on the lake watching the sky, and said to herself – This is it, I’m lost, I have no way out, I’m a puppet of this society, I don’t even know who I am anymore, I’m just the broken pieces of something I used to be, I have no purpose, no life, I’m not myself, I’m nothing – And she let her body sink into the depths of the lake as she watched the sky.

Suddenly while she was drowning, she saw a beautiful bird with its open wings, flying in the blue sky, she could not help staring at it with a smile on her face, because that bird reminded her about something she had lost many years ago, and that thing was freedom, freedom to be and to do whatever she wanted, freedom to go wherever she wanted, freedom to fly, to travel, to dream. And then after a few seconds she closed her eyes, and in the middle of that reflection and absolute relax, she forgot about the water going through her body, and because of this, she was about to give her last breath when she felt like someone was pushing her back to the surface, when she got there, she opened her eyes, and she saw everything in a completely different way, everything had changed, or in fact, she has changed. And as fast as she could, she got out of the lake and screamed – Freedom! I am free! – She had finally broken the heavy chains that were sinking her. The contact with her own reflection and her inner strength inspired by a divine miracle had opened her eyes, and so she found freedom, she found herself. With all that happiness and joy that gave life to her soul she ran like never before and went back to her home.

On the next day, she felt like she was born again, she realized that in order to be alive, she should be free to do the things she loves and be the person she always wanted to be. And she started living her life again, being her true self. She stopped being a puppet of the society, and far from it, she began to be her true self. And now being herself, being free again, she went out to follow her dreams, and lived her life with love, freedom and passion.

Finding Yourself

I hope you liked the reflection of a desperate soul, it is a story about losing and finding yourself, it’s a story about being free, free to be who you want to be and do whatever you want to do, freedom to go where we want, freedom to follow our heart and dreams. Freedom to choose our own path.

Sometimes in order to find yourself you must feel completely lost at first, because it is in those moments of absolute chaos, when you feel completely lost when you find yourself and with that you find freedom. Knowing who you are and be it, without worrying about what others may think of you means to be truly alive, because when you know who you are, you know why you are here, and discovering your life’s purpose is the key to live a happy and fulfilled life.

Let’s find ourselves, and recover our freedom!

Love Revolution

The human beings are facing a serious problem; the society in which we live is rotting, our brains have been washed, and the big issue of all is our lack of love, we need to love again, we need a love revolution!

 when-the-power-of-love-overcomes-the-love-of-power-the-world-will-know-peace-jimi-hendrix

The virus that has been implanted in our brains have killed most of the most valuable things that we have as human beings: the ability to love ourselves, our world, our nature, and every single human being in this world, we have lost the power to create everything we want, and we have forgotten who we really are and why we are really here.

The greatest problem of all is that we have changed the meaning of love, forgetting what love really means. The world is under so much pain right now, because human beings are not only loving in a very selfish and superficial way, giving love to things with no value, and there we can find the worst of all diseases: the love for money.

“Only when the last tree has died, and the last river has been poisoned, and the last fish has been caught will we realize we can’t eat money.” – Cree Indian Proverb

We are more in love with money, that any other thing in the world. And how can I know that? Because you just need to see the world, and what is happening right now, to see that what I’m saying it’s true! The problem is that the people are so blind, that they cannot see what is really happening. Humans have lost their common sense, becoming victims of their madness for money and power, making the worst atrocities and all in the name of money. Our love for money is the first cause of the pain, suffering and destruction of human existence.

The world is dying, we are pushing and pushing all our resources to the limit, jeopardizing our existence. The world, our home, desperately needs love, but not the cheap and rotten love we give every day but we need real and pure love. We need to learn how to love again and spread love to the world, so we can heal our hearts and the whole world. The solution is to focus in what really matters, learning to love ourselves again, and everyone out there, we need to understand again that we are not separated from each other, and what we do to others, we do to ourselves too.

“The planet does not need more successful people. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kinds.” – Dalai lama

There are some questions about human behavior that have been in my mind, which I cannot understand:

How is it possible that are still people out there killing each other, people stealing, people with no home, with nothing to eat, with no drinking water, with no access to education, health and with no kind of right to have a decent life?

How is it possible that we know that we are destroying our planet, knowing that the result will be the end of life on earth and we don’t do anything about it?

How is it possible that we keep separating people for nationality, race, religion, gender, age and social status giving human rights depending where you belong, having some of them more rights than others to have a decent life?

How is it possible that there are people still deprived of their freedom? How is it possible that slavery still exists?

How is possible that we have been blessed with a wonderful planet which have all the resources for the survival of the human beings and we destroy it every day by our careless actions?

How is it possible that we have been blessed with a magnificent human body, which allows us to experience the wonderful gift of the life on earth and we destroy it by consuming all the crap we consume each day, without taking care of it until it’s too late?

How is it possible that we have been blessed with an extraordinary mind, having all the power, abilities and skills to do and create wonderful things and we use it to destroy?

How is it possible that we have a beautiful heart with the wonderful ability to feel and to give love, and we use it to hate and hurt?

“In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

And as I said before, the answer to all this questions is that we have lost out common sense, we mixed up the real priorities in life with less important things, we forgot about love, and we have become so blind that we can’t see what is happening, and if we can see it, we just don’t care, because we don’t want anything to distract us from our desperate race after money, power, material things, and a social status that will make us stand out from the rest. We have become so superficial that we forgot what is really important in life, allowing the evil in all of us, to bring the worst of ourselves, and give it back to the world, what have created a reality of hate, suffering, insanity and pain.

And what it makes this entire situation sicker, is that we have accepted that reality as an unchangeable fact, taking the easy and cowardly way, as it takes a lot of courage to go against the flow and do what it takes to change the world. It’s easier to complain than do something to change it.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” – Mother Theresa

But today we can change history, we can create a better future. Don’t settle with this world believing what they told you about it, that this is the real one, the ideal, this perverse system has confused us, maddened us. But I know that deep inside yourself you know that, you want a better world, you yearn another world. If deep inside your heart you feel that this life doesn’t bring you joy and happiness, don’t settle, there is still hope. Life can be better that this sinister reality that consume our souls.

So, what the world and humanity need is that the people gather together, we need a group of soldiers with heart willing to love, being ready to build and not to destroy, giving all the love they can, to open the eyes of human beings, so we can change our reality and the whole destiny of the human race.

It is time my friends, to give the world what is lacking the most, it is time to stop with all sadness and pain and suffering in the world, we need to make humans remember that love exists, and so heal this hell that surround us. Let’s gather together in this revolution, in the name of God, in the name of love, and let’s go out fearless and courageous to conquer human’s hearts with love. It is time for a LOVE REVOLUTION!

Prisoners of the system

We think we live in a free world, we think we are free, but in fact that is only an illusion, because we are prisoners of the system, the one we think we dominate, but which in fact it dominates us, having us under its control. We think, we act, and we talk based on the beliefs that they have imposed on us. There’s no such thing as freedom, our freedom is an illusion.

no-social-system-will-bring-us-happiness-health-and-prosperity-unless-it-is-inspired-by-something-greater-than-materialism-clement-attlee

We have been categorized, such as in a product catalog, in which the human beings are separated from each other by nationality, religion, social belief, gender, race, sexual preferences, external appearance, social status, and so on. An infinite catalog, that define us and which we use to determinate if someone is better than other, and if deserves something or not. Based on that belief, we separate each other and is there where the worst miseries of the world come into play.

We start to judge and condemn others, we compete, we do horrible things to each other, we envy, we hate, we become selfish and without feelings and we think based on the belief that we are all different. Some people believe that are more superior than others simply because they belong to the privileged group inside this catalog created by the society in which we live. These few people, the elite, the privileged believe that they have the right to hurt, humiliate, torture and even kill other human being. The problem is that we sell our souls day after day, ceasing to be our true self, to become a puppet from this twisted, illogical and selfish system in which we live.

“You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.” – Morpheus (The Matrix)

We live in a world where the appearance is the primordial, in which our idols are plastic dolls, unreal and with empty minds. We came to a point of such madness, that we have come to believe that to achieve the beauty standards imposed by this society makes us superiors, believing that we have the right to hurt another one that doesn’t meet the stupid requirements of the beauty industry. The worst part is that some people have killed themselves because they have been consumed by these stupid, unreal, fictitious and meaningless standards, believing that they didn’t deserve to live and be happy by just being the way they were.

It’s a world full of enslaved people, prisoners of money and material things, for which we have committed the worst atrocities. It’s for money that a man loses himself, forgetting all types of values or respect for another human. We forget to live by going after material things that don’t give us any kind of happiness, as we always go after the new, the best, and blinded we go through life consuming the crap that they sell to us, making that our fake motive of happiness. What we don’t know is that everything we buy has a price, and the price is not valued in papers with a number on it, but its real value it’s valued in the amount of time of our lives we spend to earn it.

“The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.” – Henry David Thoreau

We live in a world where we complain about injustice, but we do not do anything about it, we live in a world where we are always looking what other people do or cease to do, and we don’t look at what we are doing, we complain, we blame, but when we need to do something to change the world, we don’t do anything and we only have excuses.

We live in a world where we are too worried about ourselves that we cannot see around us, there are people killing each other in wars and we don’t do anything about it, there is people starving because they don’t have anything to eat and we throw food every day, there is people who don’t have drinking water and we waste it like if there were an inexhaustible resource of it. But human beings have everything: mind, intelligence, skills, abilities, and resources, everything to make this world, a wonderful place, but we destroy it, and we self-destruct day after day, blind and lost in a complete wrong system, that condemn many people and benefit a few.

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

The day we gather together, the day we stop blaming each other, the day we stop separating ourselves by nationality, language, culture, gender, rich or poor, the day we begin to value the important things of life, the day we act against injustice and we stop blaming others, and the day we stop making the biggest criminals of the world to become more and more rich by consuming the crap they sell us: clothes made with slaves, alcohol that destroy people, electronics that make people stupid, cigarettes that kill people, drugs that consume us, food that poison us and all the trash they give to us, and the day we start being the change we want to see in the world by doing unto others as we would like them to do unto us, and above all, the day we start loving each other, that day all the suffering, the pain and injustice will be over.

We have everything, there is nothing that we don’t have, and the problem is that we don’t do anything. We born, we live, we exist and we die like puppets, believing that we are somebody, when in fact we are dominated and handled by someone else, by the ones who belongs to the elite club, the ones who made this system, the ones who locked us up.

Wake up my friends, we still have time to free ourselves from the chains of this society that oppress us, and get the victory, for us, and for all those that their voices have been silenced! Let’s raise our voices and get back our freedom!
