Here Comes the New Year: Are you Ready for New Challenges?

Another year is about to end, and a new year is about to begin. Over 300 days after the beginning of the 2017 and here we are, safe and sound. We all have been through different challenges and battles, we have faced defeat and tasted victory, we have encountered difficulties, learned lessons and survived adversities, and now is the time to pause our hectic, chaotic, sometimes quiet and absolutely beautiful lives for a moment and take the time to reflect, to be in contact to what surround us, to be in a profound connection with our own minds. The new year, 2018, is around the corner, more challenges and opportunities are ahead of you, the question is, are you committed enough as to be the architect of your own destiny or will you leave everything at the mercy of luck?

Another year has passed, and at least for me and I guess for most people too, it passed at the speed of light, another prove that life does not wait for us, it simply passes, at its own pace, its own speed, regardless if we decide to move at its own rhythm or not move at all. For that reason, as life moves and passes minute after minute carrying us forward through the path of our lives whether we want or not, we must then take advantage of our time and seize every minute of our own lives.

During one year, anything can happen. Life can punch you in the face and put you in your knees from one moment to another, putting you in a state of darkness and despair, but also it can provide you with the most wonderful of the feelings. No matter what happened, life will keep passing, and it is in our own hands the decision to move forward with life seizing every minute of our lives, or to remain still while it passes through our faces. Now is the time to leave behind what is not good for us, what we do not deserve, what makes us miserable and takes out the worst in us, as the new year begins, let’s make the choice to create the life we truly deserve and become the best version of ourselves.

The bad thing about life is that we cannot travel in time and modify our past, we cannot erase our mistakes nor change our past decisions, the past is out of our hands, however, the good thing about life is that always gives us another opportunity to begin again, to born anew from the ashes like a Phoenix and become the person we were meant to be. For this reason, embrace this New Year with happiness, courage, and commitment, for we can be the creators of our own future. Accept the fact that we cannot always control life circumstances, but indeed, we can always control how we react to those circumstances. Choosing them wisely is the key to live a fulfilled, happy and prosperous life.

Embrace this New Year with your open arms and be ready to accept its challenges. May this New Year be a year of action, do not only wish, dream and hope, but go out and make your dreams become a reality, begin this year by deciding what you really want, make a list with everything you want in this New Year, and then make a plan, take it seriously, as your whole life depended on it, because it does, your life, the life you truly deserve, your dreams and desires depend on you for them to become real. You are their commander-in-chief and you have the power within you to make everything become a reality.

Let’s take some time to say goodbye to 2017 and reflect on the good and bad things. Let’s take with us all the lessons and great memories, and with courage let’s embrace 2018 with confidence and commitment, and always remember that greater things are ahead of us, more challenges and opportunities are waiting. The question is: Are you ready to abandon the comfort zone and go for an adventure that could bring you the most rewarding experience? Are you ready to accept the New Year’s challenges? Are you ready to dream more, and do more in order to make them become a reality? Are you ready to create the life that you wish to experience?

A Smile a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

The type of society in where we live and the way we live our life provoked the extermination of smiles. In this abnormal society, the abnormal behaviors became the new normal. Therefore, in this sad, bitter, and full of struggle world, a smile has become something odd. What we are not aware of is that it can actually heal everything that is wrong with the world. One single smile brings many benefits and can change the way we experience our lives!

We are living our lives in a hectic, chaotic and stressful way, we are immersed in a way of living that limits our capacity to smile, only reserving it for special occasions. We smile when we are happy or for any other special reason. The problem is that in our daily lives those reasons are a few or nonexistent, but that is because we tend to focus on the negative rather than being grateful and happy about the big or small things that truly enriches our lives, that is why someone that smiles a lot creates some kind of contradiction in the average man. People believe that someone that smiles more than normal without apparent reason is either faking it or hiding something.

One of the things that I believe defines me is my smile. When depression and sadness flooded my heart, my smile was a way to prevent them from destroying me, but it wasn’t fake, I mean, I didn’t use it as a way to hide my real emotions, I forced myself to do it even when I wasn’t feeling happy as a way to feel better and as a way to show the world that I could keep smiling despite all the sadness and struggle. It was the way I had, and that I still have to see the beauty of life, to focus on the positive, and to be happy.

Someone can smile at least once in a week, right? But, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to do it more often and feel the emotions that go along with it no matter what is happening around you? Wouldn’t it be great to be happy for no reason? Wouldn’t that be something normal? Well, in this world, it seems that smiling too often is something that can make you look weird, insane or drugged.

I remember when somebody told me: Why are you always smiling? What kind of drugs do you take? My answer was: I don’t need drugs, or any other thing to be happy and smile. I smile because I have lots of reason for doing it, just being alive is a good reason. Then, I remember when somebody told me: You are always happy and smiling, why? My answer was: Look around you, look what you have, look what life offers you everyday, don’t you see? Life with its bad and good things is beautiful, and that is a good reason to smile. I remember that person’s answer: Do you know something? You’re absolutely right!

I discovered that the more I smile the less I feel anger, stress or depression. Smiling changed the way I felt and the way I experienced my life, but how a simple smile can make so much good? Well, even if it is for a second, it can bring light, hope, peace and happiness in a person’s life, and at the same time brings all those things to you too, because one single smile can release feel-good neurotransmitters as dopamine, endorphins and serotonin.

These chemicals have the power to make you feel good. They can relieve stress, lowers blood pressure, and lifts your mood. They are better than any anti-depressant, they don’t have side effects and need no prescription. Our brain does not recognize a fake smile from an authentic one, so smiling even when you are not in the mood can help you feel a little better. Therefore, smile as much as you can, even if you have to fake it, sooner or later you will feel happier and it will become 100% authentic. If it is free, good for your body and soul, and can make your world look a little better, why not give it a try?

Smiling is contagious, even when people may think you are crazy for smiling a lot, in some way they will feel better around you, because as it can lift your mood, it can also lift the mood of everyone around you. A smile is not a random action that goes unnoticed, it is actually a powerful message, that knows no gender, race, age or religion. Even if it looks like people don’t understand why you smile, deep inside them it will always be understood as a sign of kindness, hope, love, compassion and strength.

Are You Committed to Change Your Life?

If we would spend the same amount of energy we spend on complaining on creating the life we want, how different our life would be. The problem is we are not always as committed on changing our lives as we are on complaining about the things we do not like about it. The good news is that the life we yearn, the things we want, and absolutely everything is possible, we only need to be willing to daily commit to create the life we want to experience. Are you committed to change your life?

There are many things we may not like about our lives, but instead of doing something in order to change it, we spend our precious time complaining about the things we do not like. We tend to focus on the problem, and not in the solution. We surrender to a miserable life, instead of fighting for the life we really want. We do not commit to change our lives because we are already too committed on complaining about the different things in our lives that we despise.

Why? Because is easier that way, it is hard to change your life. It requires us to leave our comfort zone, which in fact is not so comfortable at all, but in this place we have everything we need to survive, so we refuse to do something to change our current situation, becoming the eternal complainers. But can you imagine how different our lives would be if we would simply decide to do something to change our lives? The first thing we need to know is that if we are not really committed on doing something in order to change it everything will remain as it is and nothing will change.

I found many times people being frustrated because they are upset with their jobs, or their current financial situation, people who are not happy with the things they are doing, with the career they have chosen, people who are unhappy with the relationship they are having with their partners, people who are depressed and sad because they are not living the life they want or doing the things they love, people who are unsatisfied with their health condition, people who is frustrated because they are failing in their tests at school or university, people who indeed have reasons to complain and feel miserable but people who haven’t done anything to change their lives.

I found myself many times being that kind of people, being the complainer not the doer. I always thought how easy my life would be if I could have the same luck as Aladdin and find a special lamp that I could rub so a genie can come out to offer me three wishes. Frustrated and disappointed because such a fantasy would never come true, I suddenly discovered that I could be my own genie. I mean, I always believed that God was ready to help me, so why I wasn’t doing anything to change my life? Because I never believed in myself. So one day I decided to become my own genie, quitting the habit of complaining, becoming the creator of my destiny.

You too can become your own genie in the lamp. The first decision you need to make is to decide what you really want and take the first step in the direction of your goal. They say Rome wasn’t built in a day, so don’t be discouraged if you can’t change your life overnight. If you are really committed to make it happen, and if you take the right steps towards your dreams, you will eventually turn your life around. Do you want different results? Change your actions! The same behavior will give us the same outcomes. You don’t like your job? Change it! You are not doing well at school or at college? Study more! You don’t have enough money? Spend less! You want to travel? Do it! I know, it’s not so easy as it sounds, but if you focus on finding the way to change the things you are not happy with, you will eventually do it! And the key is: commitment.

Focus on the solution, not the problem. Cease to complain and take the reins of your own life, and create new and better outcomes. When do you should start? Today! What do you do? Decide what you want. What to do next? Take the first step! It doesn’t matter what you do to begin, the thing is to begin. Start building the life you want with whatever you have right now, as you move forward you will encounter new opportunities, people who will be ready to help you, tools that will help you build your dream, and if you are truly committed, sooner or later, life will welcome you with a new tomorrow.

It’s not so hard as it seems, in fact, is much simpler than we think. The key is to do what we have to do in order to make it happen, that is the only way to get what we want. Whatever we are unhappy with our lives right now, complaining won’t change anything. Sometimes we can easily fix what is going wrong with our lives but sometimes it will require from us a bigger commitment, and sometimes the only way to improve our lives, to get what we want, and have the life we desire is to make a complete radical change. Start now, start today, and step by step create the life you want to experience. Everything is possible for those who dare to dream and are committed enough to make it happen!
