Adrift with No Direction in the Stream of Life

It is common to find ourselves adrift, sailing in a sea of uncertainty. There is no sign of the shore and where we are heading is a mystery, the journey has no sense at all, and the waters are moving, but we seem to be going nowhere. Some are conscious of their current circumstances, they are aware that they have no destination nor route or direction, but some people don’t even know or don’t want to know that they are castaways in a rocking boat sailing aimlessly. We have two options: we can remain as we are and pray for a happy ending, or we can adjust the sails and get to desired destination.

"I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination." - Jimmy Dean direction

Life begins, life ends, and what we do in the meantime is what creates our life experience. We create our own story, we leave our legacy. Our purpose is the reason of our existence, because if we had no purpose we wouldn’t be here. There is no accident, no coincidence, we are here for a reason, whether we decide to find that reason or not is what is going to make us successful or not, and the decision is at our own expense, it can cost us a lot or nothing at all, and all depends whether we decide to create our own future or leave it everything to chance.

Imagine that life is an ocean, and we are sailing through it in our ships. You could go everywhere in this ocean, but there will be times of adversity, storms, giant waves, assassins creatures waiting to devour you, scorching heat, and you will feel fatigue, anxiety, sadness, anger, and you will want to give up. At the same time, there will be good times, times of calm waters, great weather, blue skies, and you will feel happy, joyful, and hopeful, and you will feel more courageous than ever, sailing with grace through calm waters.

“The great thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes, Senior

You will experience these two different phases through out your journey, whether you have a direction or not, but your direction will determine your destination. You can choose the route to a mediocre, miserable, turbulent life or you can choose the route to a calm, happy and fulfilling life. What I mean with this is that our external circumstances may vary, there can be turmoil or calmness, that we do not control, but what we control is whether to be victims of our environment and leave everything to chance, or be the creators of our own future, taking back the control of our life, adjusting the sails, and with courage taking the route that will lead us to the place where want to get.

I want to clarify that I’m in favor of not having all your life planned, I believe we cannot plan all our life, so it is good to simply live your life, enjoy the moment, and let life surprise you, but in order to not lose control I believe we must determine what we want. We must always aim something, and don’t lose sight of what we want. For instance, I love traveling, and I love buying one way ticket without knowing where I will be tomorrow, but at the same time I know where I want to go, I know what I want, I know my desired destination, which is not in fact a final destination, but it is the journey and purpose of our lives, and in my case that is traveling around the world with the person I love for the rest of my life, having new and exciting adventures, helping and inspiring people to become the best version of themselves to make this world a better place. So I might not have all my life planned but I know what I want, and that gives me the power to adjust the sails and take another route if I consider that I’m not heading to my desired destination.

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined.” – Henry David Thoreau

Are you in the right direction? Or are you adrift? It is what you are doing now getting you closer to the place where you want to be tomorrow? In fact, the most important question is: Do you know where do you want to be tomorrow? If the answer is yes, congratulations! Keep moving forward, adjust the sails whenever necessary and don’t lose sight of the shore, meanwhile enjoy the beautiful, sometimes chaotic but amazing journey!

If the answer is no you have two options: You can determine what you really want, and I believe everyone deep inside their hearts know what they really want, we are simply sometimes too limited to dream big due to the limitations imposed by the society in which we live, that limits and oppress our true self, or you can refuse to live the life you are capable of living, you can deny your true potential and be at mercy of fate.

“If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.” – Lao Tzu

Dreaming big will cost you nothing; not dreaming at all will cost you everything. If you gamble with your life, there are high chances that you will lose it all. Therefore, do not let adversity sink you, do not let the stream decide your future, but take the control of your ship, determine your destination, decide the best route, adjust the sails, turn the rudder and go with courage and faith in the direction that will take out the best version of yourself and will bring you the life that you deserve!

Do not be a castaway adrift, do not let luck decide your future, take back the control of your own life and create the life you have always imagined!

Our Greatest Limitations are Found in our Own Minds

There are no bigger limitations than the ones we create with our own minds. All the time, we are limiting ourselves through the limiting beliefs we put in our minds. Those limitations are most of the time an illusion, being the creation of our own thoughts, and they are only real inside the confines of our own minds. In order to achieve your desired dreams and goals, you will have to discover your own limitations, challenge them and exceed them!

"You are confined only by the walls you build yourself." - Andrew Murphy #limitations

Our imaginary limitations are the reason of our failure, if our dreams haven’t become a reality yet is because we have let them to stop us from achieving our desired dreams and goals. It is not our external limitations what makes us fail, but is our own limiting beliefs what really defeat us. The beliefs that we have in our mind about ourselves and life is what gives us our reality. It is our own misconceptions about our potential what truly limit us from achieving our goals.

The problem is that is easier for us to claim that we are being realistic when we say that we can’t do something, when in fact we are only using it as an excuse for not doing the things we would love to do. The truth is, if we haven’t done what we always wanted to do, if we haven’t gotten to the place where we have always wanted to get, if we haven’t reached our true potential or if we haven’t got the things we have always wanted to get is very probable that our own imaginary limitations have stopped us and paralyzed us, and that created our reality; but is not accurate to say that we are being realistic when in fact, what really stopped us was our own created limitations, and not our external circumstances. The problem it is not that we cannot do something, the problem is that we believe it.

“Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.” – Jamie Paolinetti

What I mean is that reality is relative, my reality can be very different from your reality, and I can have the same external limitations as you do, but I could create a different outcome, and what will make the difference is whether I decide to create my own limitations, believe them and let them stop me, or if I’m going to use them as way to improve myself. When you decide that nothing can stop you, you destroy any imaginary limitations about yourself and you recreate your beliefs about who you really are, what gives you the power you need to make everything become a reality.

If the environment in where we find ourselves would be a limiting factor, no one would have never reached their goals. If age, time, money, abilities, other people beliefs about you, criticism, your external appearance, momentary failures, past situations, the place where you have born, or any other condition would be a true limitation then this world only would belong to a few and the rest of us would be condemned to a life of misery, but that is not the true, but unfortunately is what is happening in this world, because most of the people have believed that only a few are touched with a magic wand, and they are the only ones who are able to reach success and touch the glory, we have accepted that concept as real and we gave up, and all thanks to the real limitations which are the ones that we have created with our own limiting beliefs.

“Limitations can only be true as long as we believe in them. Believe in yourself instead. Amazing things will happen.” – Doe Zantamata

There are people who have made their dreams become a reality with less than you have, there are people who have born in poverty, who have born with an illness, there are people who have been through very hard times, and they still have managed to achieve their dreams and goals. It wasn’t a matter of luck but a matter of willingness, and they didn’t let any limitations to stop them. If I have made many of my goals become a reality was because I didn’t let my external circumstances, but specially my own created limitations to stop me. And the key to make all your limiting beliefs disappear is by believing in yourself. There is no stronger force than believing you can reach your goals and desires no matter what obstacles appears in your life.

Discover your own limitations, find the way to exceed them and achieve all your goals and dreams. Because everything is possible for those who dare to dream and never ever give up. No matter how limited you think you are, if you believe you can, and if you never surrender to those limitations and you keep trying you will be victorious!

Beware of Dream Killers

Along the path, through our whole lifetime, we are going to encounter people who are going to say that we can’t do something, they will laugh at our dreams, they will criticize us, they will underestimate our abilities, and they will try to stop us from achieving our goals. These people are dream killers, they will try to convince you that your dreams are impossible, and you’re going to prove them wrong!

“Don't ever let someone tell you, you can't do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you got to protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they're gonna tell you that you can’t do it. You want something, go get it. Period.” - Will Smith (Pursuit of Hapyness) #dream #killers

It is not something personal with you, in fact, it has nothing to do with you, but it is something personal with themselves. These people have become dream killers because in some way, someone has made them believe that dreams are impossible to achieve. Another dream killer has made the same fine work with them before, and convinced them that their dreams are impossible, it made them believe that they can’t do it, and they believed it, and so they gave up on their dreams.

But who are these dream killers? In fact, a dream killer it is not only a person but an experience, a feeling, an emotion. Negative people, non-believers, haters, doubters, negative emotions, negative thoughts, fears, doubts, failure, lack of confidence, all of these are dream killers, and if we are not careful they will convince us that we cannot do it, and in that moment we will give up all we have ever dreamed of.

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.” – Mark Twain

Therefore, how can you deal with these dream killers? – First, you will have to know that their reality does not have to be your reality. What these people tell you is their own vision, their own perspective about life, their own beliefs, but the truth is you create your own life, and that is all that matters. Second, you can use their negativity and transform it. But, how? Well, you can use it as motivation. You can use it as a powerful fuel, that will explode your heart, making you run with courage and confidence in the direction of your dreams.

Use it as a way to demonstrate them that they were wrong, because at the end, our experience can create miracles in someone else’s life. Therefore, use the sword which they use to try to kill your dreams in their favor, and cut the veil they have in their own eyes. Free them from the ropes that are stopping them from achieving their own dreams. Because if you make your dreams become a reality, perhaps, you can convince them that they can do it too.

“When people seek to undermine your dreams, predict your doom or criticize you, remember that they are telling you their story, not yours.” – Cynthia Occelli

All these dream killers that I mentioned before will try to stop you, they will talk, they will confuse you, but you don’t have to listen to them, but you have to listen to your own heart. If every time you close your eyes, and you think about your dream, your heart sets on fire, then go out and make them happen. You will never regret trying, but you will regret not trying. The truth is if other people could do it, we can do it. Surround yourself with successful people, learn from their mistakes, improve yourself, work hard, and above all always believe one very important thing: That no matter what the dream killers tell you, what matters is what you believe and if you believe you can do it, if you believe in your dream, if you believe in yourself, you will achieve every dream that you propose.

Listen to your own heart, pursue your dreams with confidence, create your own reality, have faith, believe in yourself, and courageously make the impossible possible, and prove all the dream killers that they were wrong!

When Our World Trembles: Facing Changes

Changes are part of life and at some point in our lives we are going to face them. Changes are hard to digest even when we have been looking for them, the problem is we are afraid of changes because we fear the unknown, and when a change appears, our world trembles. Therefore, we are going to have two options: We can face them and dance at the rhythm of tremor, or hide and let the tremor bury us.

"The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance." - Alan Watts

Many times in our lives we are going to face different types of changes, some of them will be created by us and others will be created for us. The first ones are the easiest to digest, because most of them are the result of our own wishes, and they happened because we have let them happen, they are created by us, voluntarily, through our own decisions and actions, but the second ones are the ones that we do not look for, they suddenly appear, unexpectedly, without calling.

All changes destabilize us and make our world shake. The reason is because they force us to leave the shore and enter into unknown waters, they push us away from our comfort zone and destabilize us. But once we face them, we challenge them, and it’s in that moment when we ignite the spark that makes our heart burn, giving us power and strength to cope with the new changes in our lives and change our lives.

“All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.” – Robin Sharma

Changes are often inevitable, sometimes because there is no other option, there is no another alternative, there is no escape, and we cannot avoid them. They appear, they are real, and we can either accept them and succeed or fight an already lost battle. Why a lost battle? Because when an unexpectedly change has taken place we cannot avoid it, and the only way to walk out victorious is to keep moving forward. Resisting to changes will only lead us to defeat.

Therefore, whether we face a change we have created ourselves or an unexpectedly change, we have to accept it first, whether we like it or not, but this doesn’t mean we have to settle. If the new change is not to our liking, then we have to think the way to create the change that we do like to happen in our lives and make it happen. We cannot fight with the past; we cannot fight with what already happened, but we can do everything we can in order to create the future we want.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” – Leon C. Megginson

The first and most important thing you will have to know in order to face any change in your life is that nothing will remain as it is. The world is constantly moving, and changes happen all the time. There will be those that we will create ourselves and those that will just happen without calling, but we must know that changes are in our favor and not against us. They may not look like that but in the end they will be a benefit for us if we give them the opportunity. Changes make us change, and that is the purpose of the changes that happen in our lives, because they make us grow, they make us stronger and develop the potential hidden in ourselves.

Let the changes happen, and face them with courage and confidence, knowing that you have the power to create the life you want. With faith in God, in yourself and in life, keep moving at the rhythm of your changes, close your eyes and keep on dancing!

The Habit of Making Excuses

We limit ourselves and sabotage our own dreams, goals and desires by making excuses. Our own excuses create barriers between us and our dreams, pushing away from us everything we have always wanted. Therefore, if we want to make our dreams come true, we must begin by leaving the habit of making excuses.

“Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses.” - George Washington Carver

Every day we have a new excuse for not doing the things we have always wanted to do. We convince ourselves through the excuses we make, as a way of having a justification for not following the path that will lead us to the realization of our dreams and goals. They condemn us to live a life we do not like, and the worst part of all is that we believe that those excuses are valid, blaming them for our failure, when in fact, we are the cause of our own failure.

Why do we make so many excuses? Why do we punish ourselves in such a way? Why do we condemn ourselves to live a life we do not like? Why we refuse to live the kind of life that will bring us everything we have been searching for? Simple: because it is easier that way. It is easier to make an excuse and do nothing, than to do all the things we have to do in order to achieve our desired goals and make all our dreams come true.

“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.” – Jim Rohn

By making excuses we chose the easy way out, and with easy I do not mean the less painful. Because it is painful to work hard in order to achieve our goals, but it is more painful to be stuck in a life we do not want, doing things we do not like, and it is even more painful to know that we are the reason why we haven’t done the things we have always wanted to do. It is hard to recognize that in the end no one is more responsible than us of our own failure.

I constantly hear people saying things like: I don’t have enough money, I don’t have time, my family won’t allow it, I don’t have the resources, I have to work, it is too hard, I’m too tired, I don’t have the knowledge, I have to look after my kids, I’m too old, I’m too young, my wife/husband/mother/father will not approve it, I have many things to do, and so on. Have you ever heard something like that? I guess so. I heard those words from many people, even from myself. We are constantly making excuses and we believe they are valid, and under the phrase: “I am not making excuses; I’m just being realistic” we justify ourselves.

“The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it.” – Jordan Belfort

The truth is nothing can limit us, except our own personal thoughts. There is always a way to do something, and most of the time it won’t be easy, it won’t be simple, but it will be worth it. Therefore, in order to achieve our goals and make our dreams become a reality we must stop the habit of making excuses. If you want to be successful, if you want to achieve your goals, you will have to stop looking for excuses, and start looking for solutions. If other people are doing what you would like to do, if someone is living the life of your dreams, if somebody else has achieved what you would like to achieved, is not because they have been lucky, but because they have quit the habit of making excuses. They have decided to do whatever it takes to make their dreams become a reality, and you as well can do the same.

Stop thinking for a second the reasons why you can’t do something, and think as if everything was possible. What will you be doing now? What can you do right now that will get you closer to the place you want to be? What would be the right steps that will make you achieve your goals?

I know from my own experience how wonderful it is to do the things I once thought I couldn’t do. It always looks impossible, until it’s done. Anyway, what can happen if you try? Take responsibility for your life, and either find a way or create a way, and live the life you have imagined!

Every Ending is Always a New Beginning

Every ending is always a new beginning. When something ends, something new begins and a new beginning is always a new opportunity. Learning to see the end of something as an opportunity rather than a punishment would help to change our whole life experience in the moment when we begin a new chapter in our lives.

"There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind." - C.S. Lewis #new #beginning

Every ending that I have experienced in my life was because something better was coming. If my life had never been full with endings and changes, everything that I have experienced in my life would have never happened. I am where I am now because something in my past have changed. Something that has ended in my past has allowed me to have new opportunities and challenges in my life, and the outcomes I got were always positive.

If you look into your past, everything that has ended has allowed you to be where you are now. In my case many things have ended: relationships, jobs, working visas, and those endings had led me to the place I am now. The life that I have is the result of many endings. Every single new opportunity and new challenge that I have experienced was possible because an ending had taken place in my past.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” – Romans 8:18

The problem is we normally see the end of something as the end of everything, especially when we were not looking for that ending. In those moments when something ends, it is very difficult to see a new beginning. For instance, when a relationship ends, we normally do not see that as a new beginning or as a new opportunity, we see that as a painful ending, and the sorrow and frustration we feel in our hearts in those cases consume our spirit, making it impossible for us to see that as new beginning.

Endings are most of the time very difficult to accept, even if we were looking for that ending, because it is always hard to start again. Some endings are easier to digest and other endings are so painful that tears our heart apart. Those kind of endings paralyzes our world, and nothing in our lives seems to make sense. But there is always a reason why things happen in the way they happened. Every ending, no matter how hard it is, it is always a new opportunity in disguise.

“New Beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.” – Lao Tzu

But how can we see an ending as a new beginning? How can we see an opportunity between so much sorrow, frustration and uncertainty? The answer is: by living in the present. There is no other way we can live. The past is gone and the future has not arrived yet. The only place where we can truly live is in our present. Therefore, we must focus all our energies not in trying to change our past but to focus all our energy in creating our present moment. This very moment is all we have, therefore, we must focus our mind in the things we would like to experience in our life rather in what we do not want. We cannot change what happened, but we can change how we experience what is going on in our present moment. This way, we would be able to see the opportunities that we were missing by only focusing in what is gone.

When something ends, something new begins. We must remember than when a door closes, others open. When a chapter ends, another begins, and is in our own hands the possibility to write a new and most wonderful story. Therefore, we must focus not in the old chapter, that has already been written, and we cannot change it, but we can always write a new one. This new chapter, this blank paper is our new opportunity, and we can create anything we want. We are the creators of our own destiny.

“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” – Dan Millman

An ending is always a new beginning. Therefore, we have the opportunity to start again. We must let go of what is gone, to allow in our life what is waiting for us. Life is always changing, and that is what makes this life to be so rich and wonderful. Today you can make two decisions: You can decide to live tied to an end, living in your past with sorrow and pain, or you can decide to let go of what is gone and start a new life. You can choose to live in your present, and use it as a canvas to create the life that will bring you happiness and joy.

Trust life and believe that better things are coming. Embrace the end as a new beginning, and with faith and confidence keep moving in the direction of your dreams!

In a dead end

A dead end: That place of failure and despair that takes away from us all our dreams and desires, swallowing them into darkness. Once we are there, it seems to be no escape, our hands seem to be tied, our legs seem to be stuck into the ground while our heart seems to break apart. Everything seems to be over, but there is always a solution. The question is: Are we going to fight and find it or are we going to give up our dreams so easily?

"A dead end can never be a one way street; you can always turn around and take another road." - Bo Bennett

How easy it is to dream, but how difficult it is to make them become true! The problem is not that they are impossible or unlikely to happen, the problem is that we give up very easily. But why? Because of failure. We are so afraid of it that we don’t even try to make them happen, or if we do, we give up in the first instance when we meet with failure. And that’s the moment when we get into a dead end, and every dream we have vanishes into the darkness of failure.

The problem with failure is that it is not easy to digest. The taste of failure doesn’t go away so easily from our mouth, that bitterness remains in our palate like needles digging into our tongue. The smell of failure is so profound and disgusting that penetrates so deeply that we can’t smell a jasmine even if we try. Failure poisons every part of our body, contaminates our soul, and breaks our heart. Failure rots us, contaminates us, breaks us, destroys us, paralyzes us and drown us. Failure kills us inside and destroys our dreams, desires and goals.  But, does failure defeat us?

“But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated.” – Ernest Hemingway

The answer is: No. Failure does not defeat us, but we are defeated when we give up. It is not failure what defines our future, it is us and how we deal with it what defines and creates our future. Failure corners us into a dead end but it does not block the entry. At any given moment we have the chance to turn around a find another way to get to our dreams. The problem is that failure seems to be our enemy when in fact it is only trying to help us. It is only trying to say to us that the path we follow is not the right one.

But we see failure as a dead end rather than an opportunity to do things in a different way. Our beliefs and fears about failure are so wrong that we have come to believe that failure is our worst enemy, when in fact we are our worst enemy. Failure challenges us, it tests us and brings us to the limit. It can destroy us, stealing us all our hopes of making one day all our dreams and goals become a reality, but what really defeat us is our choice of giving up. Failure puts us into a dead end but it is our choice to remain there or turn around and find another way.

“Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.” – Denis Waitley

Perhaps you already have been in a dead end or maybe you feel you are in a dead end now. I have experienced that, and I believe all of us, or at least those who have dared to follow their dreams have experienced failure once in their lives. The experience of being in that place of darkness, confusion and despair is awful. The feeling of sorrow invades our soul, the lights go out, the road disappears and suddenly all our dreams and goals are overshadowed by our sadness, pain, frustration and fears. It is hard to see with clarity in that moment of darkness, but it is there when we have to see beyond it.

It is in that moment when we have to see failure as an opportunity and not as a dead end. When you run into a dead end just simply turn around and find a better way. Embrace failure as an opportunity, and not as a punishment, and you will find the key to success. Learn from them, and once you do that, you will see them as they really are: an opportunity to reveal the greatness inside you, an opportunity to declare that your dreams are bigger than your fears, an opportunity to express that no matter how many times you fail, you will make your dreams come true. In the road to make our dreams come true we will face many dead ends, it depends on us whether we are going to give up and remain there or if we are going to find another way, the decision we make will determine either our victory or our defeat.

Then my friend, will you give up so easily or will you find another way to achieve your goals and dreams?

Take the First Step

In order to reach our destination, we must begin the journey by taking the first step. Any victory depends on that first step. It is the first action, the first move, the first try, what can lead us to the place where we want to get. That first step makes everything possible and our following actions make it all come true.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." - Lao Tzu

Let’s analyse this: Everyone wants to win the jackpot, but how many of us actually goes and buy the ticket? The truth is that only a few of us do that, but why? The reason is simple: Our thoughts and beliefs creates boundaries between our dreams and our reality. We dream but believe they are impossible or too difficult to become a reality, so we give up even before trying.

If you believe that the chances of winning are almost zero it is very likely that you are not going to buy the ticket, so you are not even going to try, or you will try, and if you don’t win, you will use that as a way to prove that you were right about that winning was impossible, and you will finally give up. You can see here that the first step is crucial as it determines everything.

“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” – Theodore Roosevelt

But why the first step is so crucial? How is it possible that it can determine everything? Simple. There are two different outcomes that makes the first step so vital: If we decide to not take that first step, we decide to lose by default. But if we take that first step, it means that we are in the correct way to make our dreams become a reality. If we continue to move forward, step by step, not giving up, overcoming adversity, with perseverance, commitment and faith, it is likely that we reach the desired destination.

Therefore, the first step will be to buy the ticket. What I mean here is that we have to believe in our dreams and go out and make them happen. In order to make your dreams and goals become a reality, you will have to take the first action that will get you closer to the place where you want to be. The first step will determine whether your dream will remain a dream or if it will become true.

“Take the first step, and your mind will mobilize all its forces to your aid. But the first essential is that you begin. Once the battle is startled, all that is within and without you will come to your assistance.” – Robert Collier

No dream will become a reality if we do not take actions. It is beautiful to dream, but what is hard is to take actions to make them a reality. You are not going to win the jackpot if you don’t buy the ticket, that is to say, you are not going to get to the place where you want to be, or get what you want to have if you don’t take the first step. It is our decision to act what creates our destiny and it is our inaction what leaves everything to chance.

If you want to be a doctor, an engineer, a lawyer, a graphic designer, or whatever you want to be, you will have to take the first step and enrol in the university. If you want to learn a new language, you will have to take the first step and look for a course in your city or online. If you want to lose weight you will have to take the first step and make the decision to change your diet. If you hate your job and you want another, you will have to take the first step and find another one. If you want to be a professional athlete, you will have to go and train. If you want to quit smoking, you will have to decide to smoke less cigarettes a day or not buy any more cigarettes. There is always a first step that makes what we wish and dream more real.

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and starting on the first one.” – Mark Twain

It is the first step what get us closer to our dream, and it is our perseverance and commitment to make it happen what makes it all possible. Every single person who has been successful at doing or getting something has once decided to take the first step and then work until they succeeded.  So, what is your dream? What do you want to do? Who do you want to be? What do you want to get? Where do you want to get? If you know the answers to those questions it means that the moment to start is right now. The key is to do step by step what we should do in order to achieve what we want. We have to make the decision to take the first step and start changing our lives.

My question now is: Have you taken the first step? If you have done it, congratulations! You are one step closer to your goal, keep moving and don’t give up, and if you haven’t done it yet, go ahead and fearlessly take the first step

Challenges are Opportunities in Disguise

Challenges are opportunities in disguise, they seem to be against us but in fact they are on our side. Challenges are opportunities that life gives us so we can become the best version of ourselves, they release the greatness and power that lies in all of us which we don’t even know we had.

“Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional.” - Roger Crawford

Challenges are opportunities perfectly disguised as obstacles, and that’s why most of the time we see them as something that is against us, but challenges are given to us by life for a special purpose, they have a reason to exist, and they hold a treasure within. Challenges have the power to change us, because they push us so close to the edge that we have no choice but to jump into the unknown.

It was in that particular moment, when we were plummeting into the ground, when we found our biggest strength, and so what seemed to be the end of everything, was actually the beginning of a completely new life. It was in that moment of chaos when you found a treasure hidden within you, because while you were falling down, you suddenly opened your arms, and they became wings, and so you learned to fly and you reborn again as a new person.

“We were all born with a certain degree of power. The key to success is discovering this innate power and using it daily to deal with whatever challenges come our way.” – Les Brown

It’s normal to feel overwhelmed by the different challenges that life gives us, and that is why it is so easy to surrender to them. Normally, when we face a new challenge, we rapidly seek an escape, we look for an alternative route, we seek the easy way out and we call that “success” which in fact is not more than another way to surrender, because the only way to be successful is by facing our easy and sometimes difficult challenges.

Challenges are an important part of life; they mean that we have left our comfort zone towards the unknown, and is in that place where everything can be possible. Challenges give a special meaning to our normal life, they make us grow, and they change us for the better. After facing a challenge, we never keep being the same person we were before it, because challenges change us, or in other words, they bring to light the power and strength that was deeply hidden somewhere within ourselves.

“Life’s challenges are not supposed to paralyze you; they’re supposed to help you discover who you are.” Bernice Johnson Reagon

Challenges are opportunities to improve yourself, and there is a great feeling that comes to your heart when you come out victorious of them. It doesn’t matter how small or how big the challenge is, it always makes you a better person than you were before, and the reward you get out of them is extraordinary. There is a great sense of happiness that spreads throughout your body when you overcome those things that you once thought you couldn’t, but to get to that moment you first need to face the challenges, even if you feel powerless and hopeless.

In my life I faced many challenges, for instance this blog. Writing a blog without any experience and decide to write it in English in order to reach more people, even though my first language is Spanish was a huge challenge for me. My first thought was to give up, because I was afraid of many things, for example not being able to write well in English, and the possible opinions of others really freaked me out. My second thought was to write the blog only in Spanish, but that would mean taking the easy way out, and therefore I decided to face the challenge of becoming a blogger and write in English, and after 9 months here I am, happier than ever and feeling stronger than ever before. I faced my fears, I overcame the challenge, and I improved myself, especially my English. 🙂

Embrace your challenges; embrace the opportunity that life gives you through challenges, so you can become a better version of yourself. Face them without fear, and let them release the greatness within you!

Do You Really Believe In Your Dreams?

Do you really believe in your dreams? Because dreaming is not enough, in order to make your dreams come true, you must believe in them with all your heart. If you truly believe in your dreams, there is nothing that can stop you from making them become a reality.

"Imagine with all your mind, believe with all your heart, achieve with all your might." #believe

We all have dreams, but only few of us are able to turn them into a reality, and why this happens? Well, the reasons are varied, but one of the main reasons is because we don’t really believe in our dreams, within ourselves, in that place we do not know, where our beliefs are kept, we hold the belief that our dreams are impossible or difficult to come true, and those beliefs actually sabotage our dreams. No matter what we do, we continue to fail in the attempt to make them a reality, because somehow we know they are impossible, and that belief creates our reality.

Believing is one of the main tools we have to create the life we want and if we believe in something as impossible, that belief will help create the fact that our reality is not a place where dreams are possible and our dreams will remain dreams until the end of our days on this earth, without the possibility to actually live the life we have always dreamed of.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

To a greater or lesser extent we are all dreamers, but because of the limitations we all have in our mind because of our fears imposed by the outside world, only few of us have the possibility to live the life of our dreams, and that’s because those people have not only dreamed, but also believed, not only believed but also they have done everything they could to turn their dreams into a reality. For those people nothing is impossible, they dreamed and they believed with all their might even when nobody believed in them, those people are unstoppable dream hunters, and they never stopped until they succeeded.

Everyone can dream but not everyone can truly believe, and it doesn’t matter how much you dream and how many dreams you have, if you don’t believe in them, if you don’t believe they are possible, they never will be, because nobody is going to try to make something impossible into possible, for instance, you are not going to jump from a building expecting to fly when you know deep inside your heart that flying is impossible, you are not even going to try, you dream of flying, but you know it’s impossible, so you will do nothing, end of story.

“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.” – Anatole France

Believing makes everything possible, because it actually changes your mental programming which has been programmed with a very narrow perspective, and by changing your beliefs, you change your whole life. When you actually start believing in your dreams, you broaden your perspective and what was once impossible for you, it is now possible, and so, your dreams start to feel more real.

So, do you really believe in your dreams? Try to be honest with yourself – Close your eyes for a second and think about your dream, can you see it? Well, now try to see yourself in your dream, visualize it; make it real, how does it look like? How does it feel? It feels great, isn’t it? Well, now look around you, and try to look yourself at the mirror, can you imagine that person you are seeing capable of achieving anything? Do you believe in that person? Yes? And so do you believe in your dream? Do you believe it’s possible? So what are you waiting for? Go out and make it happen!

Dreams are possible for those who dare to believe they can come true. Believe that what you want is possible, and it will! Dream, Believe, Achieve.
